The Sinus Infection That Would Not Die

I had to go back to the doctor again today.  I tried to go on Friday, and again on Saturday, but it’s a long story.  Hey, you know what they call the guy who finishes last in his class in medical school?  My doctor.  I think he misspelled both prescriptions today.  The pharmacist wasn’t any more impressed than I was.  Anyway, I’m now on some super-duper heavy duty antibiotic.  I’m taking Biaxin XL (two 500mg pills a day) and I was advised to take the pills with food.  So, I happily ate my quesadilla while watching the final of the Little League World Series.  Then, I took my pills and shortly afterwards felt like crap.  I’ve never had a reaction to antibiotics before and it shocked me.  It also made me sad.  I don’t want to fear that which will heal my poor aching sinuses and ears.  Has anyone else taken Biaxin?  If you got sick with the first dose, did you get sick with the following doses too?  I’m wallowing in self-pity, for a variety of reasons.  I don’t need nausea to be one of them.  And ugh, feeling nauseous when you’ve just eaten Mexican food, highly unrecommended.

  1. frankly i’m terrified of these new super bacteria, and their ability to thwart the usual antibiotics.

    but feel better soon!

  2. You poor thing.  Sinus infections are the WORST!  I get 2 a year and OMG!

The ear thing is the worst...I’m glad you got antibiotics even though they are making you feel bad.  I’ve never taken Biaxin, so I don’t know much about it.  I usually get Augmentin or Zithromax.

Here’s to hoping you start coughing that stuff up and you can hear again.  smile

  3. Yeah, the super bacteria is really scary.  I’m sure it’s what will end up wiping out the population.

Some Girl, two a year?  Ick.  Isn’t there anything you can take that will prevent them?  Oh, and I had Zithromax prescribed on the 17th - it got rid of the killer headache, but then last week the pain started creeping back, but through my ears.  Apparently I needed super antibiotics.
