The Hockey Rumors Are Making My Head Spin
Tie Domi to Pittsburgh? Or staying with the Leafs? Or going somewhere else? Darcy Tucker being traded? Mats Sundin being traded? Ed Belfour being traded? Jeremy Roenick going to Los Angeles (okay, that one’s verified)? I never ever thought I’d be this interested in watching hockey rumors. My life, it’s turned upside down. I may even play fantasy hockey, just so I can decide who I want on my team and not have to worry about those GMs. Maybe in a two team league with Leigh-Ann - we’ll have awesome teams.

I don’t really know anything about any of those guys, I have to admit. I can only add that for us Detroit hockey fans, the great news is that Steve Yzerman will return for his 22nd year with the Red Wings! Other than that I’m just reading all of the great BlogHer stories. You MUST go next year!!

You know, in the last year we went to virtually all of the Hamilton Bulldogs games (AHL training team for Canadians) and now that the NHL is back, I’m finding that I don’t care so much about the Leafs. And, that’s saying a lot, considering that I was raised on Leafs games (why the fuck did they have to get rid of Peter Puck?! what is wrong with Hockey Night in Canada?!).
So, I was interested in the draft only where Montreal was concerned. Weird.

I don’t know anything about Steve Yzerman, other than everyone seems to love him. We talked a bit to a woman at a Las Vegas Wranglers (our ECHL team) game who was wearing an Yzerman jersey. I think it was right after he’d gotten hurt. She seemed very concerned.
I’m going to have to check out letsgopens.com - the team is getting really interesting...even though I was really resistant to anything Penguins a few days ago.
I’m a recent Leafs/hockey fan, so I never even got to meet Peter Puck, except for seeing him on Leigh-Ann’s childhood jersey in the closet.
It’s funny, when we started watching HNIC on Center Ice (we’re in Vegas), we watched so I could laugh at the funny accents on the commercials. I mostly kept saying to Leigh-Ann, “Hey, he sounds just like your dad.” And then, I started to understand the game better and follow what was happening. Then, my first Tie Domi fisticuffs and his big smile. So, my Saturday nights were Tie and Ron MacLean. Even if Tie signs with someone else, I’ll still watch HNIC for Ron...and to see what nutty thing Don Cherry will say about European players.
I heard a rumor about Montreal and Vinny Lecavalier. That would be cool for you guys. I liked him on the Lightning, but it seems like all of the players are being scattered, so I’m going to have to find new favorite teams.

there are so many rumors ROARING through the rafters. it’s crazy. let’s go pens is a group of folks that are diehards..they can be a tad tough but they seem pretty cool. it has been a lot of fun lately with all the excitement of free agents and oh Lord the draft was beautiful for us Pens fans :D I hope Crosby truly is as good as they say. not only for the pens..but for hockey overall you know?

Here’s a bit more about Stevie fyi:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Yzerman
Ok, picture him a few years younger, with a smile on his face (well he’s only 40 so he’s still young in my book!), and when his hair was longer he kinda looked like a cross between Matt Dillon and Johnny Depp. Plus he is a leader with class, humility, he’s nice, too! (I remember exactly where I was sitting when the Detroit Red Wings won the Stanley Cup back in 1987...and Steve was skating around the ice carrying the Cup and the music they played was, “Oh what a night, late December back in 63, what a very special time for me, I remember what a night...”
And we were all so happy and he was so cute...what a fun memory. - forgive the cheesiness please!)

Ah, here’s a cuter picture. In street clothes, with longer hair. http://www.worldonwheelz.com/boston/photo album/images/yzerman_jpg.jpg (it might need to be copied & pasted)
Your memories are like my memories of the Dodgers winning the World Series and the parade in downtown Los Angeles.
