One More Sleep Until BlogWorld
I’m looking forward to BlogWorld in one way (yay, learning new things) and not in other ways (boo, I’m tired). We have at least three sessions tomorrow, and then maybe a keynote roundtable to attend. I wish we had good public transportation so we could hop on, say, BART (to use a good example from the San Francisco Bay Area) and read Entertainment Weekly, while we travelled on tracks that went over or under or through the streets and freeways that always seemed to be backed up because of construction delays. It should only take us fifteen minutes to get to the Strip, if we could travel a straight route, without traffic. Instead, thirty to sixty minutes, depending on time of day or whether or not people need to slow down and gawk at a disabled (and empty) car parked on the side of the road. Fascinating viewing, that.
We had to rescue two senior cats today, 30 miles away, in the furthest reaches of Clark County. If anyone reading this ever drops off two pets, that they’ve had since the pets were babies, at animal control, without exhausting every possible alternative, I will never speak to you again. In fact, no one should speak to you. Some woman, who indeed had a good reason for maybe needing to find a new home for her pets, called Leigh-Ann...and only Leigh-Ann, to take her two cats. When she didn’t hear from Leigh-Ann, a total stranger, right away, she dropped the cats off at animal control...which, for elderly pets, is almost certainly a death sentence. A death sentence in a scary and unfamiliar place, where your loved one just dumped you. So, yeah, I’m tired. We had to drive to Henderson Animal Control because the woman wouldn’t inconvenience herself or anyone she knows for ONE SINGLE DAY, because tomorrow we’d be more than halfway there and could’ve picked up the cats. But, oh no, we had to drive close to 70 miles AND fork over $110 because this woman couldn’t be bothered to call any other rescues or check with the SPCA or really do anything but drop off 14 & 12 year old cats. Cats who were so terrified when we picked them up that they peed on the floor and the animal control officer. Cats who were matted and a mess. So many people truly are woefully lacking empathy...and consideration for other people who were willing to rescue their pets (because we couldn’t sit at home and let her pets be euthanized), but couldn’t be bothered to take their “beloved” pets to someone for one day. Anyway, the cats are now being boarded (we don’t have any room) at our vet’s office and are getting the kind of care that their owner should’ve given them. Thanks to our pals at the vet’s office, the cats are getting bathed and shaved, and prepared, hopefully, to be adopted by some nice person who would be willing to take two older cats.
Ugh, to erase the stinky smell and the annoying thoughts from my head, here’s a nice picture of Bunny.

Wow you’re story REALLY upset me. What a horrible, horrible lady to do such a cruel thing. I feel so bad for the kitties. I am so happy that you and Leigh Ann take the time to help them out when you have so much else going on. I really admire you both for that.
Bunny is adorable
