Flippy - I Rant, You Read

Mmmm, Tonsillitis

But the good news is…I already had a course of antibiotics at home, so I didn’t have to go to the doctor this time.  My flashlight diagnosed me.  So, maybe the rhymes with Mole Dudes cookie didn’t make me sick, it was just the beginning of actually being sick.  So, it’ll be a crappy pay period for work, but I have gotten a lot of sleep.  Also, I just finished Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ’s Childhood Pal by Christopher Moore, which I looooved.  I just started The Monsters of Templeton, but realized that I’m going to have to brush up on (read: know anything about) James Fenimore Cooper, The Last of the Mohicans guy.  It’s kind of like Lamb, where I’m thinking, “Did this (supposedly) happen, or is the author making this part up?”  Oh yeah, and I finally finished Harry Potter last week.

Until I feel functional, here are some nice cat/kitten pictures.  Note, it’s daytime and I’m awake.  Shocking, I know.

She lost that ear tip when she was a kitten.  We have no idea how it happened, or who the culprit was, but I’m sure Frank, Tie, or Scampi might “know”.

  1. Yeah, all I need too is a spoon and a flashlight.

My youngest used to get it every couple of months.  Did you take a double dose of antibiotics first?  That’s what my Dr always told me to do - by morning she always felt much better.

Thanks so much for your nice comment!  I, too, am way behind in the blogging world - this entire Summer whizzed by in a big fat blur for me!

I’m sure you two could live in the middle of the Canadian wilderness!!  You can still shop online (I finally got the cable guy to hook me up with highspeed), and we have what you (ahem) might call buffets here…. lol.  In this little town we have:

1 pub (with yummy pub food)
1 Chinese restaurant (which has a BUFFET on Sunday)
    1 Diner style place
1 African restaurant which also serves western cuisine

That’s a whole four choices!!  You could live with that, right? Right?? hehe

Buy in BC if you’re buying though - our real estate is going through the roof!  We tripled our money in one year - no kidding.  Vancouver’s a cool city - so is Victoria (on Vancouver Island).

Hope you feel better soon! grin

  2. Sympathies on the illness, but everything’s a little better with a Christopher Moore book, isn’t it?

I’m very concerned that a book would require you to know things about James Fenimore Cooper. That seems cruel. Would “unspeakably tedious” be enough information?

  3. MercyButtercup - okay, after reading several chapters, no seriously major things need to be known about James Fenimore Cooper, except that many of the things from “The Monsters of Templeton” are real and/or were written about by James Fenimore Cooper.  So far, a very enjoyable book…and I didn’t even have to read “The Last of the Mohicans” to understand it.

Kai - four whole restaurants?  Do you at least have a good grocery store, so if you have a craving for something, you can make it, even if you can’t buy it?  And no, I didn’t take a double dose of the antibiotics, although it crossed my mind, so I suppose I should have.  So far, it seems to be doing a good job of getting rid of the pus (gross!), but my throat is still pretty sore.

  5. Don’t forget to gargle cayenne pepper for the pain.  The best relief I got was a mix of warm water, red pepper, salt, and lemon juice.  It cleared all the goo out of the back of my throat, killed the pain, and possibly had some sort of antibacterial affect as well.  But it really really really helped the pain.

  7. At least this is something you know you can readily zap. I hope you are already on your way to feeling better.
And I love, love, love these beautiful pics.
Are these foster kitties or family members? I hope the two that are so beautiful together will get to stay together!

  8. Thankfully, I started feeling better just in time for SuperZoo.  My voice started going at the end of yesterday, but it recovered overnight, so it looks like the antibiotics did the trick.  My pain mgt doctor looked at my throat today and said that he could still see some swelling, but I’m happy to report that the white dots & stripes are mostly gone.  Alas, my secret stash of antibiotics is now gone too.  It sure saved me a lot of money though - the doctor’s visit and the prescription.  Last year, I hadn’t exceeded my pharmacy bennies, like this year, so the Levaquin only cost me $10, instead the $125 it would’ve cost me now.

Laurie - those kittens started out as fosters (we got them on Day 2 of their little lives), but Carlo had horrible IBD and nasty stinky diarrhea, so we couldn’t adopt him out…and we didn’t want to separate the two of them.  After he’d been on the Wild Kitty for a little while, his IBD started clearing up, but he wasn’t used to pooping in the litterbox all the time (his cramps were sudden, so he couldn’t control when he had to go), so we didn’t think that would go over too well with a new family.  Now, he’s pretty good about using the litterbox, but they’re so charming that we couldn’t give them up now.  Here’s one of my all-time favorite pictures - Carlo is stupendously photogenic.  Rarely does he get glowy eyes, like his sister.
