Racer X Has Gap Insurance, cuz he’s like totally upside-down, man

Okay, the title needs some work, so I’ll go back to it later.  This is one of the (after the car buy) posts.  More about the car will come later.  Tonight, while sitting in the Smoothie King parking lot, we activated OnStar.  Ray from Canada was a lovely customer service guy.  Friendly, and with just the right twinge of Canadianism.  Anyway, he got us nicely set up.  We talked a bit about where he was (really IN Canada), then he asked how things were on Skypointe Drive and we kinda freaked out.  We forgot about the GPS system and the fact that they know our every move.  They should pick one of our normal days to follow our red dot - starting at home, we drive to the mailbox to get what’s mostly trash.  Then we head out to either Starbucks or Smoothie King.  Whatever food choice is around there, we’ll choose for lunch.  So, it’s pretty much Durango to US95, then off...oh wait, I’m boring even myself.  Anyway, let’s just say they can follow you if they want, I’m assuming.  It’s good I gave up that job as a drug mule many years ago.

One cool feature is that my car will have its own phone number in a couple of days.  I wonder what my car will talk about.  I would think that whatever happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, should apply to my car in Vegas.

We toook the car out for a little spin today.  It drives really nicely and I’m really happy with it.  It felt much pricier than it was.  Tomorrow we’ll give it a bigger workout.  We’re taking lunch over to my parents’ house across town...so everyone can sniff the new leather.  My first leather seats ever.  Oh wait, I just realized that my first car, the 1970 Mercury Cougar had leather seats, but they were really battered and we covered them with seat covers.  These, they’re so pretty that we’re going to worship before them daily.

Here’s a semi-blurry picture of the new car - I shall name him Racer X.

Oh, I forgot one errand today, I signed up for GAP Insurance.  I’m so upside-down that a totalled car would kill me financially.  I talked to a friend who said it was cheaper to not get it from the dealer.  My Geico coverage wouldn’t add it, when I thought for sure they would have something like that.  Anyway, I ran across a really crappy little site that doesn’t appear to be a very professional seller of GAP insurance.  But, I checked them out with the Better Business Bureau and it checks out.  They’ve also been intereviewed for various publications.  So, I’m about to unveil them in all their glory.  Remember, I myself, bought Gap Insurance from them this morning.  It can’t hurt those of you wanting to save at least the $195 extra that my original dealer got me to pay.  So, anyway, get Gap insurance, for peace of mind. Gap Insurance - Peace of mind for only $299.  My original dealer charged $495.  Save yourself some money...and you can even do it online.  And I do warn you.  It’s crappy looking site, but they’re reputable and I was approved within 20 minutes.  I now feel much safer in my car.  Phewwww.  Abject Poverty doesn’t wear well on me.

  1. Racer X is awesome.  I will call him and have conversations with him and ask him if he is Speed Racer’s brother, Rex.

  2. Wow, I wrote that entry so late and I was so tired, that it was practically illiterate.  My apologies
to those of you who read it last night.  Eeek.

As soon as we have Racer X’s phone, we’ll send it to you.  I wonder if he’ll take Intl calls.

  3. Uh, do are you parking it in your living room?  either that or you have great garage floors.

  4. That’s in a dealership bay.  They like to present the car to you, all fancy-like.
You walk around it, they take your picture with it and help you make goo-goo eyes at it.
Today I’ll have to take some pictures of it with the regular camera, not the blurry
    camera phone.
