It’s December, It’s NaBloCoMo

Here’s a list of all the great blogs I visited, read, and commented upon (outside my normal blogroll circles) during this month of NaBloCoMo.  Sing it, Perry!

Also, I’ll be visiting some blogs from Fussy’s NaBloPoMo participant’s list through Lane’s cool little randomizer tool.

  • - I found this blog while doing searches for work a couple of days ago.  I’m pretty sure her gf probably thought my work email was spam, but hey, I’m getting used to it.  Anyway, I found Creampuff Revolution (“Rosemary Rowe is a playwright, freelance writer and blogger who is pretty sure Anne of Green Gables turned her gay.”)  as a result of reading the bio from My Name is Kate.  So, I may not sign the blog (to a contract), but I’ve found two new blogs that I’ll enjoy reading.  A silver lining.  Two Canadian blogs to celebrate Leigh-Ann’s brand spankin’ new permanent residency.  Yay!
  • December 2
  •   - I picked this blog off Leigh-Ann’s blogroll, since she was nice enough to pick one from mine.  I went to visit Bonnie Underfoot and Victor Tabbycat , self-described as, “We’re a pair of Wisconsin tabbies, Bonnie and Victor. We are opposites yet remarkably similar. We are cats.”  Tons of cute cat pictures, and some fine writing done by cats.  My guess is that you really haven’t see a lot of blogs like this one. wink

  • - Today I took a gander at the Randomizer to find my next blog.  I hit a few duds before I found Don’t Try This at Home.  Not only did I find someone amusing who shares my love of bread pudding, but she has great graphics from Larry Jones Illustration that I’m going to have to check out when I have some spare change.  (Leigh-Ann and I have the retro fonts and some other retro graphics, but I’m often too lazy to put the whole shebang together to make something of it)  Plus, she has great names for her kids’ teachers - Mrs. Meh & Mrs. Too-pretty-and-smart-oh-my-god-do-her-legs-ever-end.
  • December 4
  • - I swiped this one from the Creampuff Revolution blogroll, because I hit another group of duds (mostly not updated or 404’d) through the Randomizer.  I chose it because it’s called “I Have a Bomb Shelter And You Can’t Use It”, which amused me.  I might have been hurt, but I don’t think he lives anywhere near Vegas.  After a quick perusal, I’m pretty sure that we have very little in common besides our fondness of Liz Phair.  Nonetheless, he writes well and has a knack for telling a good story.
  • December 5
  • - I swiped another from Leigh-Ann’s blogroll.  I’ve been to Coll’s blog before, but I don’t recall ever leaving a comment.  But her cute dog with Santa looks just like Phoenix, if Phoenix wasn’t all allergy-laden and kinda stinky.  I don’t know why I think Coco smells better than Phoenix just from a picture, but I just think he does.  Anyway, go visit and take a peek at Coco with Santa, and other pups waiting to see Santa.  Also, Coll is really really nice and always leaves nice comments for Leigh-Ann.  Must be that Canadian thing.  Although, she did cheat and in her 100 things about her, she only wrote 47.  We must convince her to finish. smile

  • - Kai found me before I found her.  It looks like it’s going to be a Canadian-heavy list considering their population.  But, I live with a Canadian, so that seems fair.  Anyway, Kai’s blog is The Buzz Queen, although I’m not sure why.  Hey, I can’t read a whole blog in twenty minutes.  But, she wrote about some cool gadgets (Mood Beams - I want ‘em), a fabulous looking Candy Cane Martini, a bunch ‘o crafty things, and her daughters play hockey.  Oh, and she has cute pets.  What’s not to like?  Plus, if those pictures in her Flickr account are of where she lives, I want to move there - it’s so pretty!
  • December 7
  • - Today, through the Randomizer, I actually picked a guy.  I think some diversity was needed on this list.  I ran across some other folks, but I’m not sure that a person with lots of religious books on their favorite books list would welcome me.  So, I chose Over A Candle by jbnimble.  And no, I have no idea what his real name is.  But, he wrote a great speech for Bush to give, and he loves Studio 60 and Heroes, so he’s passed both my political and my tv tests.  Of course, when I was trying to leave a comment, I suddenly couldn’t reach his website.  In fact, I’ve had lots of weird comment problems lately.  And emails that have disappeared.  Perhaps I have a weird electrical charge surrounding me or something.

  • December 8
  • - Today’s choice, found through Randomizer, but hardly an unknown blog.  She’s one o’ them big mommyblogger folks, although I’m not sure that I’ve been to her blog before.  There are so many good ones that when you don’t even have kids, you must place limits on yourself - too many cute kids might make me want one.  We have a two-story house for the two of us, but the pets have decided that there’s no room for a child without fur.  Anyway, I visited Three Kid Circus today and enjoyed her entry about her son thinking a Christmas Carol on the radio with “Jesus Christ” in it was filthy music.  Yeah, I agree.  But, you know, in the olden days of Jesus, there wasn’t a whole lot of bathing going on.

  • December 9
  • - Okay, technically I did not cheat.  I’ve never commented in Kate’s personal blog.  Also, I came across her blog through the Randomizer, so it seems pretty fair that I chose her.  It was going to either be her or the Christian who decided that her kids were only getting three gifts this year because Jesus only got three gifts—and when that upset them, she asked them if they thought they were better than Jesus.  So, you can see why I picked Kate.  She seems nice.  She writes well.  She always has interesting links.  I present to you, my blog of the day (my days are kind of wacky, so since I haven’t been to bed yet, this counts as the 9th, even though it’s the 10th at 3am) The Dramaturge At Home.

  • December 10
  • - I went to virtually visit miserable bliss today and she had a link to Milkmoney or Not, Here I Come, which is a finalist for Best Canadian Blog in the 2006 Weblog Awards.  One of her competitors is an icky right wing chick who seems fairly clueless about, well, everything.  So, visit Schmutzie - she seems nice, she’s Canadian (yes, I know I’ve been visiting lots of Canadians), she did lots of LSD, and she likes good soup.  Good enough for me.  Anyway, go vote for her.

  • December 11
  • - I’ve been to Perez Hilton numerous times before (back when it was PageSixSixSix), but I’ve never left a comment.  Most of the commenters are often jerks, and who wants to leave a normal comment amongst people who keep posting, “First!”?  But nonetheless, I did.  I’m not proud of it, but I did it anyway.  Mostly, I enjoy the site, but I hate the attacking of women when they’re too thin, then complaining when they gained the slightest bit of weight.  Plus, I think it’s gross when he draws on pictures.  Otherwise, I like the gossip.

  • December 12
  • - This next site, I didn’t leave a comment, because comments aren’t enabled.  I discovered from one blog to another that someone named Leslie Harpold had died an untimely death.  This is one of the better “obituaries” (I’m not sure it qualifies as an obituary or just a story about a person…which probably is an obituary, if they’ve died) I’ve seen online.  I’m not sure that she was a person I could’ve handled as a friend, but she’s the kind of person that is good being the friend of someone else, someone who writes well about such people.

  • December 13
  • - A funny interview that Susie Felber did with Bob Powers on the Comedy Central Insider site.  It counts as a blog because you can leave comments.  That works for me.  Anyway, if you have the chance, go read the interview.  They’re both really funny, and Bob has a book coming out on Christmas Day called Happy Cruelty Day!  Daily Celebrations of Quiet Desperation.  You can also go to his website and get a taste of his humor and what kind of stuff will be in his book at http://www.girlsarepretty.com

  1. Hi, Flippy! Fanks fur visitin our blog an writin such nice fings about us. I’m not aposed to tell you, but we cats are takin ofur the blogosphere. My favoritest part of fanksgivin dinner was the Temptations. I spin fur treats an they’s the bestest. The cat afore Bonnie loved the smells of the turkey cookin, so Mom boiled the giblets an neck fur her, an she gobbled them up an curled up into the happiest little ball of cat Mom had efur seen. She efun slept thru the proper dinner. So enjoy yur relaxed second fanksgivin dinner wif yur 4-footed furiends. Purrs!

  2. The dogs got the last neck, but this time it’s mine, all mine.  I LOVE turkey necks.  There’s nothing better than a turkey neck and a little salt.  It’s the perfect food for a meat eater who likes to play with their food.  We’ll let the kids have some of the turkey though.  Chelsea will probably try to crawl onto my lap in order to get some.  She’s not overly friendly…unless you have chicken, turkey, or oddly enough, plain potato chips.  She’s a weird cat.  I wish you could talk to her and tell us what her deal is.

  3. Well aren’t you sweet!  Thanks so much for the mention!

Oh, it’s ‘The Buzz Queen’ out of sheer desperation - it’s the buzz on our life and nifty stuff I come across. (my life is boring so it’s mostly the nifty stuff)  And it took me 2 days to come up with something catchy that hadn’t already been TAKEN on Blogger!

And yes, we did live on all those beautiful beaches - for two glorious years!  We moved from oceanside to lakeside a couple months ago.  I can still smell that ocean and hear the whales exhaling. (sigh)  It’s Flores Island, Ahousaht BC.  A First Nation’s reserve - you may have surmised that we stuck out like sore thumbs, blondies that we all are!  An amazing place though, life lessons like you wouldn’t believe.

Ok.  I have to stop talking about it now, or I’ll pack my bags and walk back tonight…

  5. Thanks for the kind words and the link love! Kate and I are both tickled pink. Although the pinkness might be from laughing so hard at the Christian lady whose kids aren’t better than Jesus.
