Idiot of the Day - Our UPS Driver
This is my pissy little email to UPS. Not well-written by any means, but it’s after midnight and I’m tired.

BOTH of these packages were sent Next Day Air. Neither of them was delivered on time, even though BOTH of them went out for delivery. Does the driver just give up and decide to go home?
Don’t even bother delivering 1Z38EW251376501085, as in case you hadn’t noticed, December 27th is TOO LATE for Xmas. Not to mention how ridiculous it is that it won’t be delivered on Monday, the 26th. It isn’t a holiday. Regardless, I’m going to refuse delivery of this shipment because I’m going to have to go out and buy the items in person.
Please thank my driver for the crappy customer service. It’s stunning that not just one Next Day Air package was delivered late, but TWO. In fact, knowing that the second package was probably a Xmas present, it’s stunning that they think that when one pays for Next Day Air, it’s okay to deliver the package, not on the 23rd, but on the 27th.
Thanks for nothing.
I just checked the tracking again and one of them actually said, “THE RECEIVER REQUESTED THAT UPS DELAY THIS DELIVERY.” Yeah, on what planet would I be requesting a delay of delivery? Let’s just say, not this planet.
Next entry: Happy Holidays, Everyone! Previous entry: Arrrrggggh, I Can't Believe It!-
hey so yeah i had the same problem today. i guess that it’s just a mystery what
“THE RECEIVER REQUESTED THAT UPS DELAY THIS DELIVERY”
means. huh? i called ups and they said that it may be an error like someone scans your package instead of the other correct package that should have gotten this “THE RECEIVER REQUESTED THAT UPS DELAY THIS DELIVERY” attached.
plus when I called ups they said that if the delivery truck doesn’t have the package on it by 10:00 AM local time then what happens it is it mandatory delivered next day. they can give you a refund for the shipping costs but cannot begin an investigation until the next day, like 12:01 AM the next day. I had the same problem with a next day air package being delayed. the contents of the package were about $12,600, so yeah i was kinda pissed that they didn’t get it here on time.
but hey basically we need to think that the next day air service isn’t really next day air. Sonic Air is truly the one to pick. I told the representative that I would be willing to pay more money for next day air to guarantee next day air delivery before 10:30 AM if you are using standard nda service.
so kinda like she didn’t have a response but hey at least i suggested it to her. I was surprised to learn that next day air is only gonna hit you back with your original shipping cost and that’s it. if it still comes that day the delivery date day somehow it still counts as delivered and a investigation cannot occur. i was interested in an investigation you see because all the next day air packages arrive late where i live. it’s happened like maybe four or five times in two years whenever i get that service.
so I was asking here ok well it would make sense to get an investigation even if the package is delievered because then you can figure out why this consistently happens. i told her that and she appologized. basically they aren’t willing to dig any deaper into their problematic delivery if it is delivered that day. what this doesn’t account for is the time value of money. that’s an issue i felt they didn’t recognize. they say that 99% of their packages are on time and that 1% are not on time. I tried to explain to her that it’s really odd that every time i use the next day air service it comes late, sometimes one or two days later, coming sometimes after the 10:30 guarantee one or two, and I think even three days later than stated.
so, basically then i thought well I’m still in college, so perhaps I can get a job there and then investigate the problem that way. makes sense right? i would get a job at UPS, then perhaps get into solving the problem of the next day air packages always getting delivered late where i live.
she said oh you can go to ups.com/jobs and even interview online. i was surprised. hey, interview online? so i was kinda asking her some more questions and she said that if i wanted a refund that the shipper would need to call and request the refund, that their shipper account would be credited and they would need to get me my money back. so that explains how that works. i guess she was saying that they use a system of automatic conveyer belts and arms that sometimes route the packages to the wrong place. so she had said that sometimes packages go to different states than they should. that was sure surprising. also surprising is that their online tracking information is delayed. so yeah looking for your information is kinda a pain because you have to wait for information to appear on their web site about where exactly your package is in transit.
that’s about it. going to go now. bye. :D :p
