Fasts Are Dumb

I’ve always thought protest fasts were stupid.  I thought they were stupid when they were done by prisoners wanting Lucky Charms (or whatever) for breakfast.  I think they’re stupid now when they’re wanting to bring the troops home.  Seriously, who cares if people starve themselves?  I don’t care if I agree with the cause or not, it’s still meaningless to me that celebrities are giving up food for a whole day. 

Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan began a hunger strike on Tuesday – and Susan Sarandon, Sean Penn and other stars are joining her in her “Troops Home Fast” protest.

1. Wait, don’t celebrities give up food for days at a time to stay thin?

   Yeah, I never got the “I’m going to hold my breath until I am blue” form of protest.

   Bush already doesn’t respect Sheehan: he’d be glad if she starved to death. (He has already shown us he doesn’t care if people die.)
