Are You Watching “Samantha Who?”?

Are you watching it?  Huh, huh, huh?  It’s sooo good.  Easily becoming one of my favorite shows, and there have only been two episodes.  It even has a Wikipedia entry now.  Please try to find the episodes to watch.  If you have TiVo, you can watch them for $1.99 through Amazon UnBox, you can also rent or buy movies, but I loves mah tv.  I love UnBox, it’s saved our butt when our horribly unreliable Cox Cable dvr screwed up recording AGAIN.  We were able to download “Reaper”, “How I Met Your Mother”, and “Chuck” to our TiVo.  Figures that the dvr would screw up on some of our favorite shows versus, say, “Bionic Woman”, which just isn’t impressing us.  We’ve seen two episodes, and maybe we’ll give it a third, but then we’re done.  Oh, and since Unbox is focusing on “Heroes”, let’s talk about how the show got off to a pretty lousy start in its second season, but Veronica Mars, er, Kristen Bell, saves the day again.  This last episode was SO much better than the previous ones this season.  I wish Sylar would kill Molly, Maya & Alejandro - ugh, how many times can I hear, “Maaaatttt, I’m scared” and “Alejandro, help me, my eyeballs are flooding black gunk again and I’m killing people...again”?  Okay, I’ll tell you how many more times...none.  I am, however, enjoying Micah’s trip to New Orleans and his cousin, Monica’s, new cool powers.  The actor who plays Micah has grown up so much since last season.  He’s really adorable.  And, I’ll bet he could make our damned TiFaux dvr work all the time, so we don’t have to buy tv show backups from Amazon.

Oh, poopy.  I just discovered that Unbox doesn’t have “Samantha Who?”; however, all is not lost.  ABC is showing the premiere episode on their website, and the third episode will be on Monday, so you can catch up.  I promise that you’ll laugh.  My favorite tv critic, Doug Elfman, isn’t in love with the show yet, but he likes it.  Since he writes better than I do, here’s his description of the show.

R.I.P. Veronica Mars

To everyone saying, “Who?”, I blame you for this great show’s demise.  Because I’m sick, I’m also cranky, so I’m not holding back that I’m mad at you....and you...and you over there, and you who just said, “Me?”, yes, you!...you’re all responsible for the end of a great show.  I’m not sure that I can ever forgive you.  Hey, HBO or Showtime, would you please buy the show from the crappy CW?

R.I.P. Gilmore Girls

I’ll try to remember you as you were in your past, smart & witty.  I’ll try to forget that April ever existed or that you ever did that quickie marriage thing with Chris or that you had that stupid relationship/breakup thing with Luke.  When you were good, you were very very good; when you were bad, you were cancelled.

Goodbye “Gilmore Girls.” The sharp-witted saga of an independent mother and daughter that added to the luster of the young WB network, will end its run after seven seasons.
The show, which last year moved to the CW network created by the merger of WB and UPN, will air its final episode May 15 at 8 p.m. EDT, CW and producer Warner Bros. Television announced Thursday.

A Tiny Bit of Goodness in my Life

A few blocks away, we’re getting an Einstein Bros. bagel place.  Yay!  No longer do we have to choose between the one grocery store that has the better bagels, but sometimes the sesame seeds are bad, which ruins the whole bagel or the grocery store that has the more bready bagels, but no problems with bad seeds.  Lately we’ve been solving that problem with frozen Lender’s bagels, which are actually darned good.  Perfect in the toaster - sorta hard on the outside, but soft on the inside.  It’s also nice that when you buy them, you don’t have to eat them up right away, because they’re happily resting in the freezer.  But anyway, Einstein’s has LOTS of flavors.

Even closer, we’re getting a Momotaro Sushi & a Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza.  To most of you, it wouldn’t be that exciting, but for a long time we’ve lived in the boonies of Las Vegas.  We’re now getting caught up to other parts of the city.  Now, what we really need is a bookstore.  We need one badly.  Sure, we’re getting the gigantic Great Mall of Las Vegas just down the street, but they haven’t even started construction.  So the soonest we’d be able to browse through books & mags would be 2009.

And, for food I can have at home...I found the best salad dressing ever.  I love Chinese Chicken Salads, but I hate ginger.  A lot of the dressings for those are made with icky icky ginger, which ruins the whole salad for me.  Now I can use Tresso Miso Sesame dressing and all is right with the world.

Now, for something you can enjoy.  “30 Rock” was renewed.  While the very first episode was kind of iffy, each show after that was fabulous.  I was so worried that it would be cancelled because you, my friends, were not all watching it.  Watch it!  I promise that you’ll love every episode, except the first one.  No promises there.  Alec Baldwin is amazing.  Tina Fey is fabulous.  Please help make sure that it will have a third season.
