Most Excellent Puppy News - And A Decent Flippy Update Too

Phoenix and Cricket both had appointments today.  Phoenix, to get her urine/blood checked, to make sure all of her meds are working properly; and Cricket, to have her knee checked.  Phoenix passed all of her tests with flying colors.  Cricket’s knee was where it should be, which is good news.  The vet said that it could be arthritis caused by the damp weather, especially since the Rimadyl has helped her.  We’re to keep her on the meds for another week and then see how she is.  It’s obviously better news than we expeccted.

My horrible leg pain has eased off A LOT.  I don’t think it’s because of the pain meds either.  I think the chiropractic treatments and the constant icing have helped.  It’s still pretty bad if I stand or walk for any length of time and it’s still hard to get comfortable to sleep, but it’s much improved.  Wheee!

Cricket’s Crappy Crap

F*&#$&, f##$&, f#*$*! After dinner tonight, I came into the bedroom and Cricket was sitting oddly. I talked to her and she got up and LIMPED over to see me. That limp, that’s another surgery at $1000 - $2000.

It was raining really hard today and the yard flooded, so Cricket hasn’t been let out. (She goes on pads in the bathroom) She oftentimes wants to romp through puddles and make a huge mess. Anyway, she hasn’t even been on the stairs today. I have no idea how she could’ve hurt her leg. Since her last surgery, we don’t even let her go up the stairs anymore - I carry her. She’s only allowed to go down, where she barely puts any pressure on her back (very very expensive) legs.

This is so not what we needed today. I gave her some Rimadyl, but it looks exactly the same as when she needed surgery last time.  She’s limping and then stretching her leg back.  For those of you keeping track - Cricket had bilateral knee surgery early last year.  Then, she had ACL surgery on one of the knees earlier this year.

Dante’s Surgery Was Successful

They took the tumor out of his ear and sent it off to the lab for tests.  We’ll hear back from them next week.  They capped a broken tooth.  It was a mere mumblemumble dollars.  Anyway, he’s sleepy, but seems good.  We’re SO sleepy.  We went to bed sometime after 2am and got up at 6am, got Dante to the vet before 8a, then had breakfast with my parents at 9a.  Then, we ran some errands…many many errands.  Came home.  Collapsed, then went out again to pick Dante up around 5:30p.  We watched Survivor and one episode of The Daily Show and I think we can call it a night.  Zzzzzzzzzzz.  Tomorrow, I pick the contest winner.

Oh, My Aching Back

Even sitting on the couch hurts…and hockey starts tomorrow.  I MUST sit!  I sat in the massage chair several times today, but alas, the pain persists.  I haven’t even wanted to sit at my computer.  I want to lay on the floor and stretch, with Cricket snuffling at my face.  It’s so cute.  She crouches down on her front paws, with her butt sticking up in the air.  It’s like when she playing with Phoenix.  Adorable, but it doesn’t take away the pain.  I think it’s time to schedule some x-rays to see what’s going on back there.  Constant back pain and other issues make me think that my spine is not what it used to be.

We watched the new Geena Davis show, “Commander in Chief”, and we liked it a lot.  It was interesting.  So, that’s now three new shows.  We swear we’re stopping.  At least Weeds only has last night’s episode and one more, then we’re done with one thirty minute show for the season.  Oh wait, I forgot, we picked up “The Soup” from E!, which has great reality show clips (Oh, Danny Bonaduce, what have drugs done to you?) and other fun stuff.

Dante’s Having Surgery

Leigh-Ann wrote about it on her blog, so you can go look at the picture of the lump in Dante’s ear.  It looks like a little boil.  That’s apparently not the technical name of it, go figure.  It’s a canine cutaneous histiocytoma.  Mmm Mmm good.  Blech.  Anyway, so that means we have to get up in the wee hours of Thursday morning to take him in for surgery.  Hopefully, it’ll be quick and easy for him, and not overly expensive for us.  Although, he’s already at $139 for today’s visit, which included a vaccine and bloodwork for the surgery.  That’s why I never go to the doctor - it would just end up costing lots of money, right?

Because the Dante discussion is so incredibly appetizing, I wanted to tell you about my fabulous ice-cream from Cold Stone Creamery.  It’s espresso ice-cream with brownies and raspberries added in.  It’s quite delightful, and odd at the same time.  I think I like it better than the Cheesecake Fantasy I got last time, which still, is pretty darned fabulous.
