Secret Agent Basil’s Meme

I can’t link to Basil’s blog because it isn’t public, but I’d like to thank her for her meme.

1. What famous (or infamous) person would you like to be?

I can’t think of anyone, maybe just a better looking, younger, and wealthier version of myself.

2. How do you get through the day?

One blog at a time.

3. What is your favorite pleasant memory from childhood?

I don’t know, I had a pretty great childhood.  There are lots of pleasant memories.  Just hanging out with family.  Being a part of a team that won a national softball championship in ‘78, and was introduced on the field at Dodger Stadium.  I got Dodger dirt on my shoes!  Also, everyone was making paper airplanes out pages of the program, so I made one, just playing around.  I threw it and it landed well into right field.  Rick Monday had to go over and get it off the field.  Whoops.

4. Who’s your daddy? (Just kidding. I’ve always wanted to just say that)

That just makes me think of our friend, Ed.  But my daddy, he’s reading.

5. What country have you considered emigrating to since the Bush regime came into power? Why?

Canada.  Leigh-Ann is Canadian.  They have socialized medicine.  Gay marriage is legal.  The general populace is more liberal and tolerant than ours.  Hockey!  We could see Leigh-Ann’s niece & nephew grow up.  In my mind, I flirt with France too, but I have no real desire to do it.

6. How important is exercise in your life?

I used to be a total jock, but it was the game that was important, not the exercise.  Unfortunately, I don’t really enjoy exercise without the goal of winning or having fun.

7. Describe your life in an alternate universe or an alternate life in this universe.

I’m almost sure I’ve been living in an alternate universe recently.

8. What life form would you like to be if you couldn’t be a human being?

Perhaps a dog.  Eat, play, get pets, sleep, get snacks, sleep, eat.

9. How do you define the word “smart?”

Someone who just gets things.  Jokes, tv shows, politics, etc.  I know there are other definitions, but that’s the most important one in my personal universe.

10. Who was our stupidest US president in your lifetime?

Either Bush, or Reagan after the Alzheimer’s set in.

11. What is your favorite sport to play?

Used to be softball.  Now, it’s well, nothing, I guess.

To watch?

Not a specific sport, but the Maple Leafs.  I like watching baseball and football too, but hockey games are shorter.

To pretend to play?

Fantasy football?  Or like pretend for real?

To pretend to watch?

I either watch or I don’t.

12. Who is the best actor and/or actress living or dead?

No idea.  But, I rarely like actors’ actors.  I’m happier with pop culture good versus deep meaning good.

13. What question would you like to see on QotD?

Biggest lie you’ve ever been told online?

C Is For Cookie

I got this meme from Nancy, and here are the instructions copied and pasted from her post:

If you want to play, the game is…

Make a comment saying so and I give you a letter. You then have to think of 10 words that start with that letter and they must mean something in particular to you and your life.

When Nancy gave me the letter “C”, the first couple of minutes brought only “cheese”, but then there was a rush of “C” words.  So, I’m going to cheat and do more than 10, because I’m a big Cheaterhead.

----------------------------------------------------

Canoga Park - the city where I was born.  Our part of the city changed to West Hills when I was a kid, so I guess I’m officially from there now.

Christopher Columbus Jr. High/Chatsworth HS - where I spent my formative years, or maybe not all that formative.  I mostly thought about softball.  And more softball.

Casino - I live in Las Vegas.  Mmmm, casinos...food, gambling, movies.  What could be better?

Cilantro - I love, love, LOVE cilantro.  I would buy cilantro perfume if I could...and make Leigh-Ann wear it.

Cheese - Staple of pizza.  Staple of “...& crackers”.  Staple of “macaroni &...” Staple of popcorn topping.  Staple of my life.

Canada - Girlie from there.  Have five zillion t-shirts that are Canada related.  LeafsCoffee Crisp.  I (and lots of others) have an internet godchild there.  If you don’t believe in God, can you have a Godchild?  I mean the child still exists whether I believe or not.  Oh, and Ron McLean and Don Cherry.

Cats - need I say more?
kittensdogbed

Cactus - on the left side of the yard.
yardafterb1

Combunox® - “...first and only product to combine 5 mg of oxycodone HCl and 400 mg of the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) ibuprofen” It helped a lot after my surgery.  I had stronger stuff, but w/Tylenol added instead and it didn’t help nearly as well or last as long.

Cheapy Chicken (name not coined by Albertson’s, Inc) - The chicken that Albertsons puts on sale because it’s getting too close to its “sell by” date.  They put the most excellent seasoning on it.  So it’s super yummy and super cheap.

Coffee - Mmm.  Espresso drinks.  Yum.  The smell of fresh coffee.  Delightful.  Coffee Fest, the best convention ever...and the best smelling.  We always meet such nice people there, and taste lots of fabulous foods & drinks.

Computer - Why are we all here right now?  How would I pay my bills, order our pizza, get news, make new friends (see sidebar), get excellent gossip, learn new stuff, play fantasy sports , make money, buy books, and such.

Catcher - I played catcher most of my youngish life, from the ages of 10 to 25.  I have the sore knees to prove it. (third base too, but there isn’t even one “c” in it to let me cheat and mention it here)

Clinton - I used to like him much much more.  Now I’m starting to think that he was a lovely moderate Republican.  We went to a John Kerry Rally at the Clark County Govt. Center in October 2004, just to see Bill Clinton.  It was one of his first appearances after his open heart surgery.  He’s a pretty spectacular speaker.  In this picture, I think he’s touching Leigh-Ann’s hand. P1010070

Christmukkah - A perfect and convenient blending of gift giving and buying, for those of us who love that part of the holidays.

Colbert - Stephen Colbert.  Modern Day God.
colbert

And no “C” post would be complete without:
C is for cookie, that’s good enough for me
C is for cookie, that’s good enough for me
C is for cookie, that’s good enough for me
Oh, cookie, cookie, cookie starts with C
