American Idol (I need to blog more, darnit!)
Ugh, I cannot STAND Danny Gokey. It’s sad that his wife died, but that doesn’t make him a better singer. The good thing is, it’ll be three weeks until we have to hear him sing again…and see a picture of his wife. I’m sure she would hate being used as a pity “back story/backstory/back-story (no one seems to agree on how to spell it)” on American Idol - I know that I would.
I have more to write, but it’s late, late, late. Or early, early, early, depending on how you look at it. I want to write about the Tatiana crazy, the blind guy’s terrible hair, the disappointment in Rose Flack not making it, the icky Bikini Girl, the disappointment in Jackie Tohn’s performance (I thought she was going to be good), crazy gay boy Nathaniel, crazy Normund/Nick, etc. There’s so much. Are you watching? Who do you like? Hate? (please hate Danny with me, please?) Do you see Adam Lambert, if he performs like he can, blowing away everyone?

Idiot of the Day - Kellogg’s
It’s official, Kellogg’s has decided not to renew Michael Phelps’ contract, which is up at the end of this month. They said that his behavior is “not consistent with the image of Kellogg”, but that’s where they’re wrong. The crap that they make is exactly consistent with what someone would eat after smoking pot, it’s NOT consistent with what a world-class athlete, like Michael Phelps, would eat while in training. You know who eats Pop-Tarts? People who smoke pot. You know who eats Soft Batch Cookies? People who smoke pot. You know who eats Yogos? Ugh, hopefully no one. I wouldn’t eat another bag of those (I bought them once, ate a few, and tossed out the whole box) if I was high as a kite. (I’m drug-tested by my pain mgt doctor, so until I get my medical marijuana license, I shan’t be lighting up)
It’s just stunning that his DUI and the gossip reports about his heavy drinking was “consistent with the image of Kellogg”, but taking one hit from a bong, isn’t. “According to the NHTSA someone was dead every 31 minutes (16,885 killed in 2006) and someone was injured every 2 minutes in 2006” by drunk drivers. I guess that’s consistent with “the image of Kellogg”. Oh, and aside from driving while impaired (which Michael Phelps hopefully will never do again), approximately 79,000 people each year die from excessive alcohol use, and do you want to know how many people die each year from excessive pot use? None. No one has ever died from a marijuana overdose. Each year, we’re not subjected to news stories about college students dying from smoking too much pot. No, they die from alcohol poisoning.
I will be boycotting the Kellogg company (damn, I really love the occasional brown sugar & cinnamon Pop-Tart, but I’ll give them up) due to their disgusting hypocrisy. I’ve already written to them, but here’s their info if you’d like to write to them.
Kellogg Corporate World Headquarters
Main Switchboard: (269) 961-2000
One Kellogg Square
P.O. Box 3599
Battle Creek, MI 49016-3599
Consumers Affairs: (800) 962-1413
They don’t have email addresses on the website. Here’s a link to their contact form - http://www.kelloggcompany.com/contactus.aspx
By the way, I don’t even particularly like Michael Phelps. I respect his amazing athletic ability, but other than that…meh. However, I will give up my junk food for him.
early evening
Oops, Michael Phelps/Kellogg’s story killed, but “kill” published at HuffPost
EDITORS: The Portland, Ore., story Phelps-Kellogg has been killed. Phelps has not acknowledged smoking marijuana or inhaling from a marijuana pipe. A kill is mandatory. Make certain the story is not published. A substitute story will be filed shortly.
If Kellogg’s drops Michael Phelps for smoking pot, I will boycott Kellogg’s. How hypocritical that it’s a-okay that he had a DUI and was tossing back shots o’ booze, but he smokes pot (I don’t care that it’s illegal, it SHOULDN’T BE! - it’s safer than alcohol) once and they want to drop him? I’ll be happy to stick to buying other brands of cereal, and I’ll find out what else they make and boycott that, too.

terribly early in the morning
I finally signed up for Twitter, although I’m not sure I’m going to like it. However, do any of you have Twitter accounts? Is there anyone I should follow? I’m lost in a sea of tweets.

And The Calendar Contest Winner Is…
Char, in Nothern Ireland. Leigh-Ann picked from the “hat” (okay, it was my hand, but the pieces of paper were folded, so she couldn’t see the names), so it was fair & square. I have to admit, for a contest that had a teeny tiny number of entrants, I was impressed by the variety of locales. Canada; Nothern Ireland; two from the US, but from Georgia & Hawaii. However, since there were so few entrants, I’ll send small consolation prizes to the non-Chars. So, everyone send me your mailing address. See, and this is also a test of how often you check my blog for new entries…or to see if you won.
