The Death of “The Return of Jezebel James”

I missed the first episode (I figured I’d download it later and I knew it wouldn’t matter since they changed a bunch of stuff going into the second epi), but caught the second one…and just absolutely LOATHED it. I thought it was terrible. It was like AS-P only had GG in her and she was going to try to force it on two actresses who just weren’t right doing it. Every time Parker Posey said, “Coco” with that weird pronunciation of hers, I wanted to scream. It sounded pretentious and forced.  “Lorelai” would said “Coco” in that forced way only to make fun of her mother’s friends in the DAR.

I don’t know who to blame the failure on, except that Parker Posey and Lauren Ambrose have been good in everything else they’ve done. In fact, Lauren Ambrose was even okay in this, considering what she had to work with.  Do we blame the Gilmore Girls’ rapid-fire chatter that should only be done by Lauren Graham and to a lesser extent, Alexis Bledel?  The horrendous laugh track?  The farfetched storyline?  The laugh track has worked on other good shows and there have been more farfetched storylines, so it must be the GG chatter.

I was actually embarrassed for Amy Sherman Palladino, the show was that bad. I’m relieved that the show was put out of its misery, so I didn’t have to watch it out of a sense of loyalty, because I truly hated it.  Leigh-Ann hated it, too. We could both tell that we would hate it from the moment Parker Posey started talking in Gilmore-speak, which was from the first sentence out of her mouth. Since the review mentioned that the second show fixed some things that were wrong with the first, I can’t even imagine how much I would’ve hated the first. It’s hard to imagine it could’ve been worse.

So, now that you know that I hated it. How did you feel?

lunch time

I want to eat nothing but this right now - it’s soooo good…when it doesn’t burn

Life sucks a bit right now (got our mortgage “modification” back, which will be a blog entry soon, but let’s just say that not every mortgage company cares whether or not you save your house, even if they’ll end up with a house that, because of home values dropping like $100k in my neighborhood, will have negative equity & & & they won’t be able to sell it, except for pocket change, because I live in the number #1, whoohoo!, foreclosure zip code in the whole country and empty foreclosed houses litter our streets like haunted houses on Halloween), but I fell in love and it feels so good.  Kettlemania is his/her name and I could eat it every day, all day long.  The only problem is, because there’s sugary goodness in the bag, it has a tendency to burn.  There’s another love interest on the backburner, and its Jolly Time’s Mallo Magic, which is basically Kettlemania with marshmallow sauce poured all over it.  I could probably only eat that just once a day. wink

mid-afternoon

If you’re feeling down, let Fred and Sharon cheer you up

Either this is the most fabulous joke website ever and these people are geniuses (to see more movies, they’re asking for $1 Canadian, which is what, $20 USD these days?) or this is one of the saddest attempts at starting a business ever.  Either way, if you could use a laugh, or maybe just an awkward titter, watch this video, and then go visit the link to their website ^^ up there.  I promise that you won’t be sorry.  I also promise that if you live with Helly & Alan, you’ll be hearing funny imitations in your home for weeks, if not longer.

Tricia Kean’s Breasts Get My Stats Jumpin’ Again

I’d like to wish Tricia Kean good luck in her recent marriage to Rick Hergott.  I noticed that my traffic has jumped due to her recent nuptials and people searching for her in Google.  I’m still ever so amused by how I show up in the search results for her.  The blog entry was such a goof and it’s, by far, my most popular entry.  Again, I’d like to thank Tricia for being a good sport about the entry.  I hope her new hubby is too.

I’m disappointed though that I’m no longer the first result when you search for Tricia, but I think I have the best title and snippet.

Go, Speed Racer, Gooooo!

I’m so excited.  Speed Racer has been made into an awesome looking live-action movie (at least the trailer is good!), and available in IMAX too.  It was always one of my favorite tv shows as a kid.  It was on our weird Channel 52 that also showed Kimba and Felix the Cat.
