terribly early in the morning

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving, it’s 6:22am and my schedule is turned upside and twisted sideways and I don’t know if I’m supposed to be awake or asleep or what days I went to bed.  However, right now I’m going to bed after working all night/morning, but having had a couple of naps yesterday evening, after going grocery shopping, instead of going to bed.  Got that?  Me neither!  I’m going to sleep, and then we’re going over to my parents’ house for a Memphis BBQ Thanksgiving - turkey, ham, and prime rib.  Yum!  Leigh-Ann and I will probably make a small Diestel turkey sometime in the next couple of weeks, but part of that is because it’s just such a delightful scent for the house for a day or so.  But really, if turkey wasn’t your thing because you always thought it was dry and icky, get a Diestel from Whole Foods.  It’s fabulous.

If you watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, my niece is going to be in it.  She’ll be with a dance group from California.  Although, I guess I don’t know that all the kids are from California.  Anyway, she’s in either the second row or the second-to-last row (apparently they switch it up at some point) and then the instructions of where she’ll be in the row got somewhat confusing.  Near Santa or next to Godzilla or poking holes in balloons or something.  I’m recording it, so I don’t have to worry about missing anything.  I’ll see if I can post some still shots here.

iPod Touch - Lesson 2

Hmm, I don’t much care for the new cheapie pair of Coby earbuds either.  They’re tons better than the ones that came with the iPod because I don’t feel like weeping when I have them in, but Leigh-Ann has a pair of noise-cancelling headphones that I tried yesterday...and yummy.  Yeah, they’re much much bigger, but they’re super comfy and the sound is good too.  Oh, and I finally figured out how to get the music from my computer to the iPod.  For some reason, the first couple of times I tried to sync it, it didn’t work.  Now I have a few poor quality kitten movies from my camera, a bunch of Podcasts, and a few albums uploaded.

I ordered a case today.  Well, I ordered one last week, and it was the really hard to find Belkin Folio leather case in Pink/Chocolate and I was so happy when it came within two days.  Then I opened the box.  It was a pink metal Nano case.  The company was nice enough to let me keep the case anyway, although because of its low sale price, it wasn’t worth it for them to have me send it back.  Today, I ordered a cool iFrogz wrap.  Unfortunately, they didn’t have the pink that I wanted, but I thought the red looked nice too.  I can’t wait to get it because I don’t like having the iPod out of the box without anything protecting it.  It seems so, well chunky and glassy and breakable.

What I’ve Learned from/About My iPod Touch (won at the CLIQ booth at BlogWorld) - Part I

The inside of my left ear is apparently malformed (I’d always been so proud of my cute little ears - my best feature, I thought), as the earbuds that come with iPods brutally push (er, read: lightly touch) against the cartilage and it hurts.  A LOT!  I knew that the ear canal in my left ear wasn’t as straight as the one in my right ear because I can’t get foam earplugs to stay in my left ear properly.  They don’t expand nicely to block out the noise of you people who live in a daytime world, while I slumber.  The silicone putty works just dandy though, just in case you were worried unnecessarily about my deformed ear canal issues.  I did not know that I had a weird inner ear left ear design.  Intelligent design, my behind!  Anyway, I had to buy new earphones and I was shocked, SHOCKED!, to learn that they can cost as much as $500.  Can you imagine?  Leigh-Ann helped me do lots of research on earbuds/earphones from a variety of companies, from fancy Shure and Sennheiser to JVC, Bose, Etymotic, Philips, Koss, JBuds, V-MODA, and then my head exploded, so I didn’t need earphones anymore.  Actually, I found these Coby Super Bass earbuds and they had pretty terrific reviews for the price.  I figured that $5 earbuds with good reviews were an excellent place to start.  I should be getting them tomorrow.  If they’re good, I’ll buy another pair in case something unforeseen happens to them.  We have cats.  I don’t think I need to elaborate.

Once Upon A Time…

broomhelga

Once upon a time, I went shopping at Michael’s.  They had a sign from Broom Helga’s Flight School, which I thought was very odd.  Generally, as you all probably know, it’s Broom Hilda.  Anyway, my mom, she’s a Helga.  So, I bought one and took it to her.  She liked it, she did.  When your name is Helga in the United States, you don’t find a whole lot of personalized stuff right off the shelf.  In fact, you don’t find any.  She liked the sign so much that she was worried that someone might steal it if she put it outside, so we bought her another one, using a 40% off coupon.  It turns out that even two are not enough when you’re worried about the theft of fine art, so we got her a third.  And now my mom and her flight school will live happily ever after.  Although, with that hairstyle, I’m not sure that we can trust that she’s not one o’ them malcontents.  Flight lessons at your own risk.

Check out the new Kindle (and floating hand) at Amazon (the blog selection is sports-centric!)

And the biggest blog category in the Kindle store?  Sports. By over 100%.  Sports and Amalah.  Go Amy!  Very impressive.  Okay, not that she’s a whole category, but it’s just cool that there’s a mommyblogger in the Kindle list of blogs on the launch day.  I think that speaks volumes for mommyblogs.
