the wee hours

“Credit”

Want to know how swimmingly everything is going for me?  I yelled up at the dog to stop barking, “Credit!” Her name is Cricket.  Gah.  Perhaps my brain and wallet can be found together.  I want off this rollercoaster, it’s starting to make me motion sick.

And, in other news - “Heroes” is back and it’s still great, “Gilmore Girls” is back and it still sucks without Amy Sherman-Palladino (the snappy dialogue that used to be witty is now annoying, and April just WILL NOT DIE), “The Shield” is back and it’s still good, “The Riches” is what most of you aren’t watching but should be, “24” became too violent for me, “Survivor” is boring me this season, “The Amazing Race” is a little less amazing but still interesting, my fantasy baseball team is pretty good even though I have the least home runs in the league & my pitchers have the least wins, Hillary & Barack should step aside for Al Gore & Bill (Richardson), after I cleaned the leaves out of the pool we’ve had three days of voracious winds, and that gets you all caught up.

Still no blog entries, but I’ve got kittens to tide you over

This is my “good enough for Cute Overload” shot.  This is Carlo at 4 weeks.

This is Bunny at 4 weeks and running toward the camera.  It’s a smaller picture to keep from blinding you with the whiteness of the bunnyflash.

This is Carlo peeking out from kitten prison; i.e., the baby gate that keeps them from roaming.

This is Bunny playing with a ball.  In the past few days, they’ve become kittens.  They’re starting to play with toys and they’re wrestling with each other.  It’s a fun stage to watch.

A Tiny Bit of Goodness in my Life

A few blocks away, we’re getting an Einstein Bros. bagel place.  Yay!  No longer do we have to choose between the one grocery store that has the better bagels, but sometimes the sesame seeds are bad, which ruins the whole bagel or the grocery store that has the more bready bagels, but no problems with bad seeds.  Lately we’ve been solving that problem with frozen Lender’s bagels, which are actually darned good.  Perfect in the toaster - sorta hard on the outside, but soft on the inside.  It’s also nice that when you buy them, you don’t have to eat them up right away, because they’re happily resting in the freezer.  But anyway, Einstein’s has LOTS of flavors.

Even closer, we’re getting a Momotaro Sushi & a Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza.  To most of you, it wouldn’t be that exciting, but for a long time we’ve lived in the boonies of Las Vegas.  We’re now getting caught up to other parts of the city.  Now, what we really need is a bookstore.  We need one badly.  Sure, we’re getting the gigantic Great Mall of Las Vegas just down the street, but they haven’t even started construction.  So the soonest we’d be able to browse through books & mags would be 2009.

And, for food I can have at home...I found the best salad dressing ever.  I love Chinese Chicken Salads, but I hate ginger.  A lot of the dressings for those are made with icky icky ginger, which ruins the whole salad for me.  Now I can use Tresso Miso Sesame dressing and all is right with the world.

Now, for something you can enjoy.  “30 Rock” was renewed.  While the very first episode was kind of iffy, each show after that was fabulous.  I was so worried that it would be cancelled because you, my friends, were not all watching it.  Watch it!  I promise that you’ll love every episode, except the first one.  No promises there.  Alec Baldwin is amazing.  Tina Fey is fabulous.  Please help make sure that it will have a third season.

No Playoffs for the Leafs - Ptooey

I hate the New Jersey Devils.  It’s like they didn’t even start playing until the last few minutes of the third period.  And when they started playing, they were good.  It’s like they’d decided to let the Islanders win, and then in the third period changed their minds.  Screw you, Lou Lamoriello and Martin Brodeur.  I don’t care that the Leafs should’ve been responsible for their own fate, I wanted the Devils to at least try to win today.  Like, try the WHOLE game, not just the third period and OT.  Of course, the Leafs sucked a whole lot this season.  They had a whole boatload of injuries, but they sucked during some big chunks of games this season.

I’ll root for the Penguins to win the Stanley Cup.  I’ll root for the Devils to be humiliated by Tampa Bay.  And I’ll now devote most of my fan efforts toward the Dodgers...and my fantasy baseball team.
