Are These Weird Directions…Or Is It Because It’s 6 AM And I Haven’t Gone To Bed Yet?

It got so late and I know I have to leave the house to vote, so I figured that I may as well just stay up, shower, vote, then get my once a year McGriddle and hash browns, watch Monday’s episode of “Heroes”, then go to bed.  I’ll wake up in time to watch some election news.  Ack, this is really weird, the sun apparently hits my computer desk at about 6:15am.  Who knew?

Anyway, those directions I was talking about.  Leigh-Ann needs new glasses because hers are horribly scratched, so I was looking up Lenscrafters.  These are the partial directions from our house:

4. Merge onto US-95 S via the ramp on the LEFT.  7.43mi

5. Take EXIT 82 toward LAKE MEAD BLVD.  0.31mi

6. Turn LEFT onto ROCK SPRINGS DR.  0.12mi

7. Turn RIGHT onto W LAKE MEAD BLVD.  0.47mi

8. Make a U-TURN onto W LAKE MEAD BLVD.  0.15mi

How often have you been told to go too far and to make a U-Turn to come back, in the, uh, official directions somewhere?

the wee hours

It’s Election Day - Please, Let’s Have A Blue Blue Day

I cannot take any more Republican hypocrisy, any more stupid wars (everyone feel safe now that Saddam has been sentenced to death?), any more “family values” by people who don’t have any values at all, any more flag waving and patriotism because “we’re #1” (we’re just not anymore, we’re not #1 for anything, I don’t think).  Maybe it’s time to try to be #1, instead of just thinking we are.  Anyway, I’m voting for Dina Titus, Jack Carter, for no smoking in grocery stores (how sick is that?  we allow smoking in grocery stores, just because there are poker machines), for legalizing marijuana (when was the last time you heard of anyone getting stoned and beating up their spouse, yet when was the last time you heard about someone getting drunk and beating up their spouse?  Yesterday?  Today?), etc.  This will be the first time in years that I haven’t voted early, but we stopped by the early voting trailer on Friday and the line was loooooooooooooong.  Anyway, I’m sure there are plenty of hypocrites and scumbags who are Democrats, but it’s time to let them have a chance to screw up.  We’ve already been plunged into trillions of dollars of debt by this administration, how could the Democrats be worse?

Oh, and this is the t-shirt I’m wearing to the polls.

Book Meme - From Jack’s Raging Mommy

1) One book that changed your life:  I can’t think of a single one that changed my life.

2) One book that you’d read more than once:  In general, I hate reading books again, but as a kid I read “Harriet the Spy” over and over again.  As an adult, I’ve read “Replay” a couple of times.

3) One book you’d want on a deserted island:  “How to Survive on a Deserted Island and Become a Millionaire While Doing So” - clearly authored by no one...yet.

4) One book that made you laugh:  All Laurie Notaro books.  If you haven’t read her books, do it right now.  All of them.  Some are better than others, but you won’t regret reading any of them.

5) One book that made you cry:  Recently, “Last Days of Summer” by Steve Kluger.

6) One book you wish you’d written:  Probably “Last Days of Summer”

7) One book you wish had never been written:  Too funny that Jack’s Raging Mommy said “The Da Vinci Code”, when we own a whole message board about Dan Brown’s books.  Not because they’re particularly well-written, but they have interesting information ("Angels & Demons” is the best one) and they read like a movie script.  Zip zip zip.  Anyway, I wish any book written by Ann Coulter had never been written.

8) One book you’re currently reading:  “Between the Lines: Not-So-Tall Tales From Ray “Scampy” Scapinello’s Four Decades in the NHL”

9) One book you’ve been meaning to read:  Probably most of the “classics” - I may never get around to reading most of them.

10) Tag people:  I’m not tagging anyone, but if anyone would like to do the meme, feel free.

Kittens Love Orange Crocs

crocsfanniefreddie
While this picture may just look like your average foster kittens playing on some orange Crocs, it’s really addiction that you’re seeing.  For weeks, the foster kittens have jumped all over my shoes, used them like a scratching post (no damage - good on ya, Crocs!), and tried to climb my (bare) legs when I wear the shoes.  They never try to climb Leigh-Ann’s legs.  Therefore, my legs are covered in many many tiny claw wounds.  TJ (not pictured - that’s Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac) is particularly adept at drawing blood from the moment I walk into the kitchen to see the kittens.  Yesterday, I asked Leigh-Ann to put on my shoes to see if it was just me that they wanted to bleed or whomever is wearing the orange Crocs.  Phew, it’s the Crocs.  They love those shoes.  So now, when I’m hanging out with the little monsters, I take off my shoes.  I can’t take the pain anymore.  The Crocs people should start making scratching posts for cats though - they seem to be indestructible (not one single scratch) so far.  I don’t know how they’d do with big cat nails, but the kittens seem to cut me just as easily as the cats, so maybe the Crocs people will have a new product line coming out soon.

Pomegranate Arils - Yum!

pomarils

POMWonderful came out with these two years ago and I was hooked.  No messy squirty red pomegranate juice all over your clothes.  They’re tidily packaged up so you can just eat handfuls of them without making a mess.  Granted, you’re paying a pretty penny to have that done for you, but you also know you aren’t getting any rotten on the inside pomegranates.  I love these and I’m so glad they’re back.  Until the money starts flowing again, this is the only package I’ll be buying, but hopefully that’ll change soon.  I want the produce drawer in the fridge to be full of these packages.  Of course, that would cost about $50 to fill the drawer, so that isn’t going to be happening, but I have such simple dreams…
