Jones Soda: The Dessert Pack (Part Three in a Five Part Series) - Apple Pie
As good as Blueberry Pie was, Apple Pie wasn’t. It wasn’t terrible. If someone likes apple soda w/ a cinnamon aftertaste, this is the drink for them. It isn’t the drink for me. I give it a C. It wasn’t bad, and I drank the whole bottle, but it wasn’t the delight that Banana Cream Pie and Blueberry Pie were. The two I have left, Key Lime Pie and Cherry Pie. One or maybe both will be drunken/drunk tomorrow.

Jones Soda: The Dessert Pack (Part Two in a Five Part Series) - Blueberry Pie
Well, it’s clear now that I shouldn’t have started my first rating of Banana Cream Pie with an A+, leaving me nowhere to go when I found a better flavor. I just had no idea how amazing the Blueberry Pie soda would be. Seriously, I think it’s my favorite soda flavor of all time. It’s tastes just like blueberry pie filling, and has the most fabulous aftertaste. Kudos to the Jones Soda flavor scientists. Even Leigh-Ann loved this one. She was pretty grossed out by the banana one, but she’s weird about banana flavors, liking only green bananas. Ick, tart bananas. That’s just wrong. Anyway, I recommend buying the dessert pack just to be able to taste the blueberry pie. C’mon, you know you want to make a trip to Target anyway, so do it, and pick up some Jones Soda. And to think, I don’t even own their stock anymore, but I’m pushing them. Figures, we bought it at 99 cents, and it’s now at $9.25, and has been as high as $11.55. We discovered Jones Soda when we were at Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco - we stopped to get a bite to eat at some little sandwich place. We picked up a Jones Cream Soda and thought it was amazing. It tasted like cotton candy. We immediately saw a great future for them - great looking bottles, fabulous flavors, and now a terrific website.

Jones Soda: The Dessert Pack (Part One in a Five Part Series) - Banana Cream Pie
We were at Target the other day when I came across new Jones Soda flavors. I actually just wanted to buy Banana Cream Pie, but alas, it’s only sold in the special limited edition 2006 dessert pack. So, I bought the whole package of five pie-flavored sodas. I managed somehow to resist the 2006 Limited Edition Holiday pack, which contains such delightful soda flavors as turkey & gravy, sweet potato, dinner roll, pea, and antacid. While I would love to try them, in a minute amount, I’m not willing to pay $10 for the opportunity.
I chose Banana Cream Pie as my taste test. It’s exactly what I expected - it tastes just like Popsicle brand banana popsicles. You know, the original flavor pack, where you get banana, root beer, and lemon-lime? I’ve always loved the banana & root beer ones. So, I give the first soda an A+. I only wish I could buy it separately.
Also, when I opened my banana cream pie soda, I got this lovely message in my bottle cap. I hope so.

What A Weird Story
LIVING THE DREAM
Waterloo outfielder / pitcher Terrell Alliman, who plays for the Premier Baseball League of Ontario Champion Intercounty Terriers, has accepted a scholarship to Southern Nevada College in Las Vegas. Last October Terrell played on the R eds Scout Team that won the World Wood Bat Association Championship in Jupiter, Fla., which draws more than 400 scouts.
I had to look at what college was “Southern Nevada College” in Las Vegas. We only have the University of Nevada, Las Vegas...and a community college. But then I realized, it was the community college, which is called Community College of Southern Nevada. A scholarship to a Canadian baseball player? But why? It’s just a community college. I looked him up and he was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 28th round. But still, CCSN? And that’s where he wants to play baseball? Not even UNLV? I guess if you go from playing on the Terriers (seriously, Terriers? I thought it was bad when I was on the Brahmas) to being a Coyote, that’s better. Maybe CCSN is some hotbed of professional baseball action that I don’t know about.

HNIC, er Las Vegas
Story to follow, after we watch the taped Hockey Night in Canada Leafs/Canadiens game.
(updated) This is the story following. Today we went to a Sports Licensing convention that had more cool sports stuff than we had time to see in three hours. We got NHL cards, Maple Leafs magnets, Maple Leafs photos, the above-pictured Maple Leafs goalie mask, some bbq sauce/ketchup/Heinz 57 sauce (there was a tailgate section - Leigh-Ann will have the pictures of the cool trucks with bbqs and tvs attached), and our new prized possession - a one-of-a-kind Maple Leafs scoreboard clock. It was a prototype and they’re not being sold anywhere. They sell them for NFL, NBA and MLB, but not NHL for some reason. It has the time, date, and temperature. Again, Leigh-Ann will have the pictures. (update - I linked to the pictures, but remember, they’re cell phone pictures, so the quality isn’t amazing)
I thought it might be silly to wear my Maple Leafs Tie Domi t-shirt, but it was apparently the right decision. If you want to get hockey fans or Maple Leafs fans specifically to chat with you and give you stuff (or give you good deals), wear Leafs clothing. Two chants of “Go Leafs Go”, several discussions about Tie Domi, and a discussion about how the Leafs will do while Mats Sundin is out with his elbow injury, got us some neat things. It didn’t hurt that it was the last day of the convention and most of the people were from out of town and didn’t want to have to pack up and carry extra stuff. We learned about this at CoffeeFest and SuperZoo - no one wants to carry extra stuff home. Especially if it’s heavy and not very valuable; i.e., hockey cards, and bbq sauce. Luckily, the goalie mask could serve as a bucket for holding things because not a single booth had a bag. It’s the first convention we’ve ever been to where there were no plastic bags with logos on them. I guess because it was a licensing convention, mostly everyone was there to talk about the products and make deals, not sell trinkets. By the way, the result of how the Leafs play without Raycroft, Sundin, and Kubina? Fine. They beat the Canadiens 5-1.
