What’s Next, Getting Kicked Off The Plane Because Someone Doesn’t Like Your Nail Polish or Tattoos?

An architect of Iraqi descent has said he was forced to remove a T-shirt that bore the words “We will not be silent” before boarding a flight at New York.

What, he was going to take down the plane with his shirt?  C’mon, first it’s tweezers, then shampoo, and now it’s t-shirts?  He’d already cleared security, so if people are afraid, they need work on those fears themselves.  I understand being curious about what it said, although it was in both English *and* Arabic, but to want him kicked off the plane is so very wrong.  The government has us fearing everything, and that seems to be just what they want.  I think everyone needs to read Subject: On the implausibility of the explosives plot and see if you really think you’re being protected at the airport.

Apparently, I’m safe, I don’t wear nail polish, don’t have any tattoos and can’t read a word (can you say word or do you say characters or something?) of Arabic.

Fantasy Football Draft - Saturday

Be there.  Sat Sep 2 - 3:30pm PDT - it’s a live draft, so you may either draft live or pre-rank your players, and the computer will draft for you.  If you’re drafting live, make sure you test your system well before the draft because in one of our leagues, a certain someone did not test his computer and he needed to install a bit of software, which probably lost him quite a few rounds of draft time.

As Stephen Colbert Would Say, “Noooooooooooooooo!”

Domi on verge of retiring Bought out by Maple Leafs, aging enforcer gets no offers TORONTO - Tie Domi’s dream of retiring as a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs vanished when he was bought out of his contract this summer.

This comes from the stupid Ottawa Citizen, which I can’t read for free online, nor am I a subscriber because, well, I live in the US.  I could buy the Wednesday issue for a dollar, which seems reasonable, but you have to put a minimum of $5 into your account.  I’m not paying for a story that will depress me, especially because if it’s true, it’ll be in every other Canadian paper the day after.  But anyway, if anyone has free access to the paper, please send me the article.  Do NOT pay for it.  I’m off to go search message boards for it.

Update:

In an effort to prove he is more than an unskilled brawler, Domi set about to reinvent his game this summer. He began working out with a personal trainer five times a week, started eating healthy and cut back on his business commitments. Morris said his client was starting to reap the benefits of his new training regimen when Domi hit a “speed bump”—reinjuring his shoulder and hip. “With that stuff, you don’t get up in the mornings without hurting,” said Morris. “Where he’s successful is being a physical player, so he’s just weighing those considerations as to whether he’s able to play or not.”
