June 30, 2006 - The Day I Stopped Being A Maple Leafs Fan

(June 30, 2006)—John Ferguson, vice-president and general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Friday that the club has bought out the contract of forward Tie Domi (or Voldemort) and have elected not to exercise the option year on the contract of goaltender Ed Belfour. “We want to thank Tie (or Voldemort) for his many years of service to the organization,” said Ferguson.  “He became a fan favourite for a reason and we wish him well in the years ahead.”

And I can’t take the suspense of waiting to see what happens to him.  I want him to play another year with the Leafs.  And if not, then screw them, then a year with someone else who’ll have a chance to get to the Stanley Cup finals.  I don’t want to see him retire.  It’s not fair, I only got two seasons. :::she says selfishly:::
