My Ears Are Still Tender

We went to The House of Blues @ Mandalay Bay last night to see Sister Hazel & Better Than Ezra.  The HoB is our favorite concert place - it’s small and cozy.  It’s always fun to see, how shall I put it, people who no longer are superstars or who aren’t superstars yet.  It’s a smallish venue and the tickets are almost always really reasonable.  I think the most expensive ticket we’ve seen there was about $85, but that’s really rare.

Both bands were good, although I didn’t remember/know most of Sister Hazel’s songs.  The Better Than Ezra lead singer sounded just like their recordings.  His voice is so clear.  The problem though, it was too LOUD.  It was so loud it was painful.  I don’t think we’re just being old farts either, because we’ve been to other concerts that those there young people go to.  My other complaint was that Sister Hazel played a tad too long, and there was way too much time between acts.  We had hoped that because the concert had an early start, we could go to The Chocolate Swan and get a dark chocolate covered raspberry or two.  We’d also planned to take pictures to make Helly jealous.  Alas, they closed at 10p.  So, this is all I got, a bad camera phone picture of Better Than Ezra.

The Oxytrol Experiment Fails

I’ve been wearing the patch since Sunday and it hasn’t helped.  $80 down the drain.  If anyone knows someone who has a prescription for these, and they help them, I have seven extra patches.  They shouldn’t go to waste.

On Thursday - Something Fun!

On Thursday, we have cheap tickets to see Better Than Ezra & Sister Hazel at The House of Blues.  It’s time to promise a little more blog space given to non-disc related topics.

Here’s a cute picture of Cricket to start things off.

Started My Old Lady Drug Today

I started the Oxytrol today to see if it could help my overactive bladder that’s caused by the herniated disc.  It’s two patches a week and they cost $10 a piece.  Gah, that’s pricey.  I put the first patch on this morning and so far my bladder doesn’t seem any better.  I’m experiencing a few side effects too, like dry throat, sleepiness, and occasional slight wooziness.  They’ve mostly gone away as the patch has had more time to work.

Ugh, this has turned into one of the bad pain days.  A sharp shooting pain in my right, uh, cheek.  The pain pills don’t work very well, but I hope it can take the edge off it.  I’ll be happy when the surgery is done.  Even when people say the surgery hasn’t been great for them, they’ve almost all had relief from the leg pain.  That would be a nice start.

I Have A Heart

It’s true, I heard it.  It sounds like the ocean, funnily enough.  Anyway, I had the ECG and it doesn’t look like the heart murmur is anything serious.  The tech is sending the results to a cardiologist for a final look-see and I’ll probably hear something next week.  It’s a good thing I made my pre-op test appointment early or my surgery would’ve had to have been moved and then the timing would’ve been all messed up for Leigh-Ann’s brother’s visit.  Surgery schmurgery, we have to be healthy enough to play tourist for a few days.
