What’s Next, Getting Kicked Off The Plane Because Someone Doesn’t Like Your Nail Polish or Tattoos?
An architect of Iraqi descent has said he was forced to remove a T-shirt that bore the words “We will not be silent” before boarding a flight at New York.
What, he was going to take down the plane with his shirt? C’mon, first it’s tweezers, then shampoo, and now it’s t-shirts? He’d already cleared security, so if people are afraid, they need work on those fears themselves. I understand being curious about what it said, although it was in both English *and* Arabic, but to want him kicked off the plane is so very wrong. The government has us fearing everything, and that seems to be just what they want. I think everyone needs to read Subject: On the implausibility of the explosives plot and see if you really think you’re being protected at the airport.
Apparently, I’m safe, I don’t wear nail polish, don’t have any tattoos and can’t read a word (can you say word or do you say characters or something?) of Arabic.

Fantasy Football Draft - Saturday
Be there. Sat Sep 2 - 3:30pm PDT - it’s a live draft, so you may either draft live or pre-rank your players, and the computer will draft for you. If you’re drafting live, make sure you test your system well before the draft because in one of our leagues, a certain someone did not test his computer and he needed to install a bit of software, which probably lost him quite a few rounds of draft time.

Domi on verge of retiring
Bought out by Maple Leafs, aging enforcer gets no offers
TORONTO - Tie Domi’s dream of retiring as a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs vanished when he was bought out of his contract this summer.
This comes from the stupid Ottawa Citizen, which I can’t read for free online, nor am I a subscriber because, well, I live in the US. I could buy the Wednesday issue for a dollar, which seems reasonable, but you have to put a minimum of $5 into your account. I’m not paying for a story that will depress me, especially because if it’s true, it’ll be in every other Canadian paper the day after. But anyway, if anyone has free access to the paper, please send me the article. Do NOT pay for it. I’m off to go search message boards for it.
Update:
In an effort to prove he is more than an unskilled brawler, Domi set about to reinvent his game this summer. He began working out with a personal trainer five times a week, started eating healthy and cut back on his business commitments.
Morris said his client was starting to reap the benefits of his new training regimen when Domi hit a “speed bump”—reinjuring his shoulder and hip.
“With that stuff, you don’t get up in the mornings without hurting,” said Morris. “Where he’s successful is being a physical player, so he’s just weighing those considerations as to whether he’s able to play or not.”
evening
Biaxin or Christopher Hitchens?
Tonight, I prepared for my pill taking like I should’ve prepared for my SAT. I made sure I ate dinner, made a bathroom trip, cleaned the toilet (for worst case scenario), took a Prilosec, some Breath Asure (the spelling of that product is a whole ‘nother blog entry), got some faux Gatorade (Kroger brand, if you must know), put 1mg of Ativan in my pocket, turned the air down a degree, then took my two killer pills and propped myself up in bed to read...and wait. It’s the only time I’ve ever feared taking pills. Knowing how pills can make me feel MUCH better, it’s the first time I’ve feared taking any. So, the pills, they were taken at 9:15pm.
At 9:43p, I felt a bit woozy, but not sick. Still, I thought, I’m doomed as I don’t remember exactly how long after I took the pills last night that nausea hit. I laid my book down and decided to take a wee nap. I woke up at 10:15p, made sure I still had all of my limbs (I don’t know why) and pronounced myself free from nausea. I have kind of an upset stomach, which I had last night too, but I think it could be traced to Mexican food last night and steak tonight. Or, it’s the pills, but if I’m not barfy, then it’s okay.
So, what was the difference between tonight and last night, other than the exact detail with which I planned my pill taking? I’m glad you asked. Last night, we were watching an episode of Politically Incorrect, with Christopher Hitchens on the panel. I think it’s pretty clear that it’s Christopher Hitchens who made me feel nauseous. What a pompous windbag. So, tomorrow night, I will again have an evening free of the malodorous Mr. Hitchens.
Sure, there’s a tiny little chance that I handled the Biaxin better tonight because I already had a little bit of it in me and I made myself sit still until I was sure I felt okay, but I feel better blaming Christopher Hitchens. However, just to be safe, tomorrow night I’m just going to take the pills right before I go to bed. All of the prepwork made me feel kind of silly. Of course, I’d perform odder rituals if they guaranteed a night free of nausea, but I felt silly nonetheless. I’m greatly relieved that I can continue taking the pills because after reading up on them, they do seem to be just the thing to get rid of a pesky sinus infection.

The Sinus Infection That Would Not Die
I had to go back to the doctor again today. I tried to go on Friday, and again on Saturday, but it’s a long story. Hey, you know what they call the guy who finishes last in his class in medical school? My doctor. I think he misspelled both prescriptions today. The pharmacist wasn’t any more impressed than I was. Anyway, I’m now on some super-duper heavy duty antibiotic. I’m taking Biaxin XL (two 500mg pills a day) and I was advised to take the pills with food. So, I happily ate my quesadilla while watching the final of the Little League World Series. Then, I took my pills and shortly afterwards felt like crap. I’ve never had a reaction to antibiotics before and it shocked me. It also made me sad. I don’t want to fear that which will heal my poor aching sinuses and ears. Has anyone else taken Biaxin? If you got sick with the first dose, did you get sick with the following doses too? I’m wallowing in self-pity, for a variety of reasons. I don’t need nausea to be one of them. And ugh, feeling nauseous when you’ve just eaten Mexican food, highly unrecommended.
