Hmmm, This Really Can’t Be Good

Most of the time I feel reasonably okay pain/numbness-wise; well, at least since I started getting relief from my chiropractic treatments and my meds.  Still, I’m not the same as I was, say, three months ago.  Granted, my back feels better because the pain has moved down my leg.  It is nice to have relief from the back pain.  But, every so often, my body comes up with a new symptom to remind me of the herniation—today, I developed some tingling on the outside edge of my left foot, near my heel.  At first I thought it was neat that I could make it come & go, depending on which way I moved my leg.  Then, after it reappeared when I was walking, it wasn’t that fun anymore.  At least my appointment with Dr. $250 is only a few days away.

Those of you tiring of reading about my herniated disc will be glad to know that I’m going to spin off that category of my blog into its own blog.  I figure with its own blog, that category can be more easily found by people with the same problems…versus those of you who want to see my “Idiot of the Day” entries.

Whew, We Did It!

We made it through the week.  One doctor’s appointment, picking up the turkey, cooking the turkey and going over to my brother & sister-in-law’s.  The next day, the Stanley Cup at the Wranglers’ game; then tonight, Colin Mochrie & Brad Sherwood (from “Whose Line Is It Anyway) at the LV Hilton.  They were great.  Ninety minutes zipped by…and laughing that hard has to have health related benefits.  Tomorrow, we rest and watch football.  On Monday, same thing.  On Tuesday, maybe a little something.  Then, Wednesday is Dr. $250.  My schedule after that remains impossible to know.

Idiot of the Day - Anyone Who Hires “Brownie”

Seriously, what kind of boulders would someone have to have rattling around in their brain in order to think that Mike Brown is capable of “starting a disaster preparedness consulting firm to help clients avoid the sort of errors that cost him his job”?  He’s more interested in dinner at The Olive Garden, than helping people out during a disaster.  Hardly the guy to actually pay for advice, no?

Heigh-Ho, Heigh-Ho, It’s Off To See The Stanley Cup We Go

Gooooooooooooo, Wranglers!

Other than that, due to medication, my memory is shot and I have no idea what else to write.  When you can’t think of common words, perhaps it’s time for a brain break.

Later:  Us, with The Duke, the Wranglers’ mascot.  We’ll have the Stanley Cup pictures later.

Us with the Cup - more filler story to follow.

Leigh-Ann wore the Leafs jersey, because we only have one and she is, after all, the Canadian.  I wore my Landshut Cannibals jersey, because cannibals are cool.  I’m really pasty and fat (it’s all of my medication, I swear) and I’m not crazy about my hair in this picture.  I didn’t mind it in the picture with Duke though, so maybe it’s the lighting.  Too harsh for me, man.

late morning

Happy Thanksgiving!

I’m giving thanks that yesterday’s bank drama is over.  It reminds me of when I was living in San Francisco and had come to Vegas on vacation, where I won $1000 playing video poker.  I brought the money home in hundred dollar bills.  I deposited $900 in cash in the ATM…and the deposit went missing.  Luckily, they found it and all was right with my world again.  Remember yesterday when I was talking about how my debit card charges had gone through, which was really strange?  Well, they went through, then the bank charged me SEVEN overdraft fees of $22 each.  I’ve had that account for 13+ years and it’s never spoken the o-v-e-r-d-r-a-f-t word before.  Anyway, my new banker buddy (it’s odd making new friends when someone fixes something that shouldn’t have been broken in the first place) reversed all of the charges.  My piddly bank account has returned to its former, untainted with overdraft charges, glory.

Yesterday, Leigh-Ann and I went to Whole Foods to pick up the family turkey.  Last year we’d ordered one of their prepared meals for two, and it was the best turkey we’d ever tasted.  So, this year, we ordered one for the whole family.  We picked up our Diestel turkey yesterday, after being sent all over the store to wait in different lines.  It could’ve been annoying, but the employees and the customers were in a good mood, so it just felt like socializing with nice people.  Because it was Whole Foods, it also gave us fond memories of San Francisco.  The people who shop at Whole Foods aren’t your average Von’s or Albertsons’ customers.  And since it was a long day, we thought we’d buy some of the fabulous looking mac & cheese from their prepared foods section.  We were a bit frazzled by the crowds, so we didn’t even look at the price until we got home.  That was the most expensive mac & cheese we’ve ever had.  It was $12.70 for the container.  It was good, but a little too gloppy.

So, we’re heatin’ up the turkey (meaning, Leigh-Ann is heating up the turkey) and making stuffing (meaning, Leigh-Ann is making stuffing), then we’re going over to my brother and sister-in-law’s house to hang out with the family.  Now that my parents are living only in Vegas, my mom will be making spaetzle, which we normally only get for Christmukkah.  Yay, twice a year now.
