Tie Scores Career 100th Goal, Craig Scores Career 50th Birthday, We See The Bangles @ Mandalay Bay

October 8th, 2005, a day that will live in infamy.  Tie Domi (or Voldemort) of the Toronto Maple Leafs scores his 100th career goal.  Alas, while a good game, the Leafs lose to the Montreal Canadiens.  On this very same day, my brother Craig, turned 50 (now I have TWO brothers in their fifties!) and received a very cheesy, yet entertaining singing phone-a-gram.  I’ll see if I can upload the file here later.  And, we went out to see The Bangles at the House of Blues.  I was surprised at how much I liked them.  They’re much more rocker chick in person.  Not so poppy.  It was a good, if short concert.  Afterwards, the all important Peets latte from the Chocolate Swan, which is the only place we can get them in town.

We were hoping to get some pictures of the sumo wrestlers at Mandalay Bay because there was big (BIG!) sumo competition there.  Alas, we didn’t see a single one.  Instead, you will suffer with the terrible phone pictures I took.

Dante’s Surgery Was Successful

They took the tumor out of his ear and sent it off to the lab for tests.  We’ll hear back from them next week.  They capped a broken tooth.  It was a mere mumblemumble dollars.  Anyway, he’s sleepy, but seems good.  We’re SO sleepy.  We went to bed sometime after 2am and got up at 6am, got Dante to the vet before 8a, then had breakfast with my parents at 9a.  Then, we ran some errands...many many errands.  Came home.  Collapsed, then went out again to pick Dante up around 5:30p.  We watched Survivor and one episode of The Daily Show and I think we can call it a night.  Zzzzzzzzzzz.  Tomorrow, I pick the contest winner.

Ptooey - The Leafs Lost

Not only did they lose, but in a shootout.  While, yes, I enjoy watching shootouts, I only enjoy them when my team wins.  Ick, Ottawa.  At least Krusty has cut his hair, although it is harder to hate him when I can’t find him on the ice with his mop of hair flopping around.  Also, Mats hit by a puck in the first period.  Not a good thing.  I hope he’s okay.  It sounded like it was only a cut, so I hope that’s true.  Man, and high-sticking a ref in the mouth...yikes!  The guy looked like he was in shock, just standing there with blood pouring out of his mouth.

My fantasy team, on the other hand, didn’t do too badly.  The stats aren’t working properly yet in the Yahoo league, but in reading the stories I could figure out that Jeremy Roenick scored twice, Jason Arnott once, plus Arnott had three assists.  And Tie didn’t even come close to my highest penalty minutes - the winner, Adam Foote, with six minutes in the box.  That was even nothing in our league when someone had Brendan Shanahan with NINETEEN minutes.  Sheesh.  We should’ve watched that game.

Man, I was just looking at the hockey picture gallery and NHL Center Ice made us miss Stompin’ Tom singing before the Leafs game.  At least we got the Barenaked Ladies singing the national anthem.  But, Stompin’ Tom?  That’s just wrong to make us miss him.

Oh, My Aching Back

Even sitting on the couch hurts...and hockey starts tomorrow.  I MUST sit!  I sat in the massage chair several times today, but alas, the pain persists.  I haven’t even wanted to sit at my computer.  I want to lay on the floor and stretch, with Cricket snuffling at my face.  It’s so cute.  She crouches down on her front paws, with her butt sticking up in the air.  It’s like when she playing with Phoenix.  Adorable, but it doesn’t take away the pain.  I think it’s time to schedule some x-rays to see what’s going on back there.  Constant back pain and other issues make me think that my spine is not what it used to be.

We watched the new Geena Davis show, “Commander in Chief”, and we liked it a lot.  It was interesting.  So, that’s now three new shows.  We swear we’re stopping.  At least Weeds only has last night’s episode and one more, then we’re done with one thirty minute show for the season.  Oh wait, I forgot, we picked up “The Soup” from E!, which has great reality show clips (Oh, Danny Bonaduce, what have drugs done to you?) and other fun stuff.
