The Good, The Indifferent, and The Bad

The Good
image Pandora (thanks to Nancy) created by The Music Genome Project.  It’s fun, easy to use, and free for the first ten hours.

image We got paid today.  It’s always iffy week-to-week and we always breathe a heavy sigh of relief when we see the wire in the bank account.

image Birth week *is* going to be birth month.  My birthday was 8/7, but the family wasn’t able to get together a couple of times already - 1) We had to cancel due to a thunderstorm & the sissy Sheperd; 2) Family was going out of town; 3) My mom had a cold.  Leigh-Ann said she was just trying to steal my cool Landshut Cannibals hockey jersey.  My mom said that, yes, it had crossed her mind; 4) Two of my nephews are playing drums in marching band.  So, we’re officially rescheduled for Labor Day, but I won’t hold my breath.

The Indifferent

image The Pumpkin Harvest Frappuccino - it’s okay, but it’s not something I’m going to crave.

The Bad

image Hurricane Katrina - the sheer devastation is, frankly, shocking.  It’s not something you expect to happen in the US.

image The lawlessness in New Orleans.  Why can’t people just help each other?  Shooting at rescue helicopters?  Why would anyone DO that?

image The slowness of the government response to Katrina.  Why haven’t there been, from day one, helicopters dropping off food and water?  They knew a bad hurricane was coming, there was time to prepare.

image The Death of Mr. Badger. I feel so badly for Badger and Badger Boy.  Mr. Badger was so very young.  He sounded like an interesting guy who had a lot to give back to his community.

image And minor, compared to the above, but our mortgage loan was sold AGAIN.  That’s three times since April 1st.  Every time I get my online payment set up all cozy-like, they change lenders on me.  Sheesh, if they keep doing this every 59 days, I’ll never have to pay the mortgage again.

Hurricane Katrina destroyed thousands of lives. Together, we’re raising $1 million for the Red Cross and prove that the liberal blogosphere can help our fellow citizens.
