Tito, Get Me a Tissue

Jackson found Not Guilty.

jacksonNOTGUILTY

You know Jackson is so completely guilty that it would be funny if he could sway a jury to come around to his side.  Even with high-priced lawyers, he’s for sure guilty of causing all the cat fights in the house.  There’s no way that boy should be acquitted.  Oh wait, wrong Jackson.  My bad.  You know it. This is Jackson Monroe, feline variety.

To be fair to the Michael Jackson jury, I was on a child molestation jury last year.  Every single person I knew voiced an opinion when I told them the subject matter...from cops to family members to regular old friends.  Every single person felt the guy was guilty, even though I’d revealed nothing about the case besides the child molestation aspect.  The story was kinda creepy, but the girl retracted the story, the evidence was scant.  The guy seemed skanky, but there was no way reasonable people could find him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.  We at first had a couple of hold outs because their “gut feeling” told them he was guilty.  They had to be told that gut feelings mean nothing in a court case.  Evidence is everything and the evidence didn’t prove the case.  We may have let an innocent or guilty man free, but the evidence forced us to do so.  I understand how the Jackson jury feels.  They probably think Michael Jackson is a skanky weirdo who sleeps with kids, but the evidence didn’t prove anything more than sleeping, so their hands were tied.  The only thing decent that can come of this is that other parents don’t let their kids sleep over at his house.  What sane parent would?

Must Write, Must Write Soon

It’s been so long, I fear I’m forgetting how to blog.  Things have been so crazy busy lately.  But, because I care about you, I leave you with this valuable information—Starbucks now has malt flavoring to add to drinks.  The chocolate creme malt frappuccino is fabulous.  Hurry, run out and get one now.  You won’t be sorry.

On a sad note, another one of our favorite bubble tea places has gone out of business.  Unexpectedly.  First, it was Six Banditos, which was really close to our house, compared to driving all the way across town to Chinatown Plaza.  Whooosh, one day we go there and they’re gone.  Just like that.  Then, a couple of days ago, we decided to stop by Black Pearl Tea in Summerlin for a bubble tea fix.  We get there and they’ve already been replaced by Ben & Jerry’s.  Ben & Jerry’s?  We can get their ice-cream at the grocery store.  We can’t get bubble tea at the grocery store.  It’s so sad.  Two perfectly good businesses going under.  Clearly proof that there is no higher power.  What higher power would let good little businesses go under?

While I’ve been neglecting my blog, I haven’t been neglecting my Flickr account, so if you’re bored, just check out my photo gallery link at the top of the page.

Racer X Has Gap Insurance, cuz he’s like totally upside-down, man

Okay, the title needs some work, so I’ll go back to it later.  This is one of the (after the car buy) posts.  More about the car will come later.  Tonight, while sitting in the Smoothie King parking lot, we activated OnStar.  Ray from Canada was a lovely customer service guy.  Friendly, and with just the right twinge of Canadianism.  Anyway, he got us nicely set up.  We talked a bit about where he was (really IN Canada), then he asked how things were on Skypointe Drive and we kinda freaked out.  We forgot about the GPS system and the fact that they know our every move.  They should pick one of our normal days to follow our red dot - starting at home, we drive to the mailbox to get what’s mostly trash.  Then we head out to either Starbucks or Smoothie King.  Whatever food choice is around there, we’ll choose for lunch.  So, it’s pretty much Durango to US95, then off...oh wait, I’m boring even myself.  Anyway, let’s just say they can follow you if they want, I’m assuming.  It’s good I gave up that job as a drug mule many years ago.

One cool feature is that my car will have its own phone number in a couple of days.  I wonder what my car will talk about.  I would think that whatever happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, should apply to my car in Vegas.

We toook the car out for a little spin today.  It drives really nicely and I’m really happy with it.  It felt much pricier than it was.  Tomorrow we’ll give it a bigger workout.  We’re taking lunch over to my parents’ house across town...so everyone can sniff the new leather.  My first leather seats ever.  Oh wait, I just realized that my first car, the 1970 Mercury Cougar had leather seats, but they were really battered and we covered them with seat covers.  These, they’re so pretty that we’re going to worship before them daily.

Here’s a semi-blurry picture of the new car - I shall name him Racer X.

Oh, I forgot one errand today, I signed up for GAP Insurance.  I’m so upside-down that a totalled car would kill me financially.  I talked to a friend who said it was cheaper to not get it from the dealer.  My Geico coverage wouldn’t add it, when I thought for sure they would have something like that.  Anyway, I ran across a really crappy little site that doesn’t appear to be a very professional seller of GAP insurance.  But, I checked them out with the Better Business Bureau and it checks out.  They’ve also been intereviewed for various publications.  So, I’m about to unveil them in all their glory.  Remember, I myself, bought Gap Insurance from them this morning.  It can’t hurt those of you wanting to save at least the $195 extra that my original dealer got me to pay.  So, anyway, get Gap insurance, for peace of mind. Gap Insurance - Peace of mind for only $299.  My original dealer charged $495.  Save yourself some money...and you can even do it online.  And I do warn you.  It’s crappy looking site, but they’re reputable and I was approved within 20 minutes.  I now feel much safer in my car.  Phewwww.  Abject Poverty doesn’t wear well on me.

Neglect - My Apologies

Dearest Internet, I apologize for letting you down.  It’s been a busy week, starting with Auntie Hilda’s 90th birthday party last Thursday, the 51s game on Friday, going to the car dealer on Saturday, CoffeeFest on Sunday, on Monday another car dealer trip with a friend & the buffet at Treasure Island afterwards & back to our house to let the dogs out (Who?! Who?!) then to my parents’ house so our friend could meet my mom & then to where she was staying to help us try to work out a car deal, Tuesday we went to look at cars again, yesterday we went to the DMV (yuk!) and went to sign the papers for the car.  We went to bed at four this morning.  Then, got up and had more dealings with the car.  I shall soon make entries for each of these days, but right now, it exhausts me to even think about it.

Our garage, it smells like mmmmmm, new car.  40 whole miles of new car.
