If anyone can help Jody in Oregon by adopting some cats…

This isn’t my post, it was written by Jody, but I figured it couldn’t hurt to repost it.  If you can help Jody in any way (adopting or donations), please do.  She does an amazing job rescuing abandoned cats/kittens and getting them spayed & neutered and adopted out.  She deserves the help that the big charities get, as she does more than one person should be capable of doing.
—————————————————————————————————————-
I have too many in my care, although they are all healthy and happy. I have 29 cats here currently, only four of which are my own cats.
If any of you know people looking for a wonderful cat, please direct them to my youtube site, where I have videos posted of cats up for adoption:  http://www.youtube.com/user/Catweedhigh
Or, to my petfinder site, where you can click “My Adoptable Pets” and see most of the cats here listed, with more specifics.
Yoyo is a very very sweet young black and white male, now neutered, among four left behind by a disabled woman when her house was condemned.  The other three, his mother, brother and sister, got homes almost immediately, while Yoyo remains here.  Yoyo is a people cat for sure!  But, he takes awhile to get used to other cats.
The most adoptable cats I have here now are Tugs, a young torti, Mums and young muted calico and Matilda, all from that Lebanon situation, where an old woman was feeding the cats left behind by neighbors, when another neighbor threatened to kill of them with a shovel.
Sam, is a wonderful loving super friendly people oriented adult gray tabby male, abandoned in Millersburg.  The three starving kittens I found in Dead Car Field on a dead end street just outside Albany, have taken to following Sam everywhere and just adore him.  I call them “Sam’s Clan” in fact.  Be lovely if all four, Sam, Doc, Mops and Buffy could get a home together.
Tweetie and Button are the last teens here of 12 cats I took in when an old woman in an Albany trailer park died suddenly just after Thanksgiving.  I’d gotten all the cats fixed she fed just before Thanksgiving.  The family called me after she died, asking me to take the cats.  I resisted, instead asking the family to help find them homes.  They refused, and even though they promised to donate, if I took them, they never did so.  All the others got homes.  Button and Tweetie are still here waiting.  They are shy, but delightful.
You can see all their little glorious faces on the petfinder site:  http://www.purr.petfinder.com.  Any help finding these wonderful cats loving homes would be greatly GREATLY appreciated.
Thank you.
Jody

Houston, we have a problem…

The Houston Zoo unveiled their new arrival today - Toby, the red panda.  He’s so incredibly cute.  So cute that even the other animals at the zoo have to agree:  “When asked about Toby, African wild dogs Blaze and Aries cooed in unison, causing the rest of the pack to join in with sighs of deep affection.  “Have you seen his paws?” gushed Blaze. “Go look at his widdle paws!”

The blog entry from the Houston Press blog, “Hair Balls”, is short, but a nice bit of Saturday happy heart bustin’ (iffen ya have one) supreme sweetness & joy.  Well done, John Seaborn Gray, well done!  Nice photos by several different people, also.

Today is Toby’s debut at the Houston Zoo.  I’m sure he’ll be a big hit, and it can’t hurt to get a nice little write-up from Cute Overload on opening day, too.  Go to the blog link, the zoo link, and to Cute Overload for a bunch of adorable pictures.

Buddy & Wilbur Finally Make It Back Home

The two cats that we lovingly called “The Foster Fats” (they were 26 & 23lbs, I think) have finally made it back to their family after an 8 week spa vacation at Casa Kitty.  Their parents had lost their home to foreclosure and they were moving from motel to motel, while waiting for their tax refund and looking for jobs.  They got one of their refunds, the husband was able to find a job, and they rented an apartment.  They now have their whole family back together, and the cats are a little bit slimmer and have been put on a new diet of wet food with limited portions.  We were glad we could help someone who actually wanted to keep their pets, because our usual contacts are with people who want to give their pets up.  So, we were happy that we had the space to keep them for a bit.  However, Skyler (who is declawed and kind of defenseless) is probably thrilled that they’re gone because they’d started chasing the poor old guy around.  Oh, and we likely found a home for Kevin/Cassidy (he’s going for a name change due to the new owners’ knowing too many Kevins), and he’ll probably be on his way in a couple of weeks.  He’s such a great cat that I know they’ll be really happy with him.  He’s good with dogs (he isn’t afraid of the big dogs and when Cricket tries to chase him, he’s really calm and doesn’t run away) and he’s good with other cats, plus he’s chatty and very friendly with people, too.  It’s hard to believe that he’s the cat that was eating on our front porch for so long.  It’s nice being able to find good homes for cats who have had hard lives.  Kevin deserves to be pampered for the rest of his days..

More Bunny…

She seems to be getting more and more vision back all the time.  Phew!  The eye doctor confirmed that her eyes are physically fine and that she did have some vision at times when we were in his office yesterday.  It was a very good visit.  He donated his time, his staff was amazing with Bunny, and we discovered that, for the most part, she’s doing very very well.  Unfortunately, we still don’t know what happened to her.
